How far would you go to purchase your next bike?

The reason I ask is I have been searching for a VTX 1800C for the past 2 months and each one I have found I've either been a day late, it's been out of my budget or the sellers just haven't returned my calls. So my dilemma is this, I found a low mileage 03 1800c for under 4 grand in great shape and no add ons. The problem is, its 251 miles 4 hours and 10 minutes door to door, and I have a truck that gets at best 12mpg hwy. Am I crazy? I pick up my uhaul rental in a couple hours. I regrett ever selling my X 4 years ago.

Love the stories! Making memories. It a low mileage (9,000 original miles) but the only part of the bike that has me leary is the previous owner removed the front turn signals and replaced them with a led ring on each fork acting as turnsignals to clean it up. I may have to post something in the VTX market to see if anyone has a spare set. The whole set up from Honda is $221.00. Yikes! P.O. got rid of them.

251 miles is a short trip. Have someone drop you off and ride the X home.
There have been a few nice days and more in the near future...
Front TS--others have taken them off, post on the WTB section...
You must have quoted list price for the OEM TS.. #1 2x36 = 72, #11 2x13=26, #12 + #13 @ $15=30 subtotal $128
Screws a few dollars more...partzilla

251 miles...what's the problem? That's a nice day ride and will give you a chance to break it in on the way home . As far as the LED Rings on front those are pretty good and brighter than stock bulb turn signals and provide 360 degree visibility. They are sold by custom Dynamics, a well known business when it comes to LEDs for motorcycles. So unless you just want to replace the stock signals you can feel safe with the signals on the bike.

I say go for it, then tell us about the ride home!
