fork oil

can someone give me the measurement from the top of the forks for the oil level. I may have put a bit too much in the left side and need to check it

The 03-04 1300R/S service manual (available as a download on this site) states:

"Compress the fork tube fully. Measure the oil level from the top of the fork tube. Fork Fluid level should be 135mm (5.31in)...Then (uncompress) the fork and install the fork spring, with the tightly wound coil side facing down."

I've wondered before. What the measurement should be, IF I remove the spring, AND leave the forks installed with the tube uncompressed? is it the same for both 1800 and 1300?

No the 1300 has very different forks than the 1800. 1800 has inverted forks and in that the two legs are different from each other. One is sprung for compression the other for extension.
