power commander died bike pulsates

My power commander died so I removed it. The only mod to the bike is the cobra exhaust. The bike pulsates when driving it, and I thought I remember reading that with just an exhaust or exhaust and intake the stock computer should compensate. How long should it take for the computer to re-learn, the battery also died last fall so it has sat all winter without a battery.

Thanks for your help.

The ECM does not learn anything.
Have you done the Ground fix in the Step by Step section??
2002--look at the 2Pin connector near the starter relay.

Ground fix has been done. It is directly related to the PC III. When I fist put the pipes on I had the same problem, added the PC III the problem went away. Removed the PC III and it's back. I really don't want to have to spend the money on a new PC III if I don't have to.

Have you looked at the 2 Pin connector??
Hypercharger hoses are known to crack/fall off. Check vacuum hoses.

The bike has 10K miles on it. I checked the plug looks good, checked the hoses also goo. Took the bike around the block pulsates and the exhaust smells / feels hotter then normal. I had to spend $300 right know, but the problem went away after installing the PC III and came back when it died. I'm guessing it's more then coincidence.

rmilchman,

I suggest you look at replacing your PC III with a Dobeck EJK from Bare at Bareass Choppers. I'm looking to replace my PC V with one soon. Just shoot Mike an email or private message on his site and he will help you with your situation. He has helped me out on all my motorcycle issues.

One 1800 owner and his shaker---link below....
If you are handy with a soldering iron you could add a potentiometer
to the IAT or Baro sensor which would alter the fuel mix.

The "shaking" centered around 2000 rpm CAN be eliminated, but it's a job

Installed an EJK and took it for the first ride today. Seems to be running better with the EJK then it was with the PCIII. So far extremely happy with the EJK.
