Fork seal

Getting ready to change fork seals,I will be using the manual and the you tube video with leaving inside of tubes together and just replace sliders, and seals, question is I never tried the pvc way of setting the seals,so my question is once the seals are ready to be pressed in do you use the bottom of the tube and slide it against the pic to set the seals?

Setting preload on forks

12 years ago I installed Proggressive springs, seems like I remember you had to offset one leg with preload so when you set the front axle you had to push up on the I believe left fork leg
