Vtx1800R 2003 Dyno Pipe V&H question

Hey guys,

So my 2003 vtx1800R came with V&H Staggered Big Shots. However, there is no Fuelpak or other similar device on the bike. I am getting some back firing and i think some power issues. Upon calling V&H Fuelpak they said they dont make products for that year. So i am alittle lost on where to go now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Try removing the PAIR Syetem, or Desmog, as it's called. See this;

The PAIR system injects fresh air into the exhaust ports to burn off excess fuel vapors during engine overrun(deceleration ) This would be the popping you hear. If this doesn't work, then you can try adding any fuel manager, it doesn't have to be Vance&Hines. Cobra makes units, PowerCommander, Dobek, etc....

You can find used fuel programmers all over eBay. They should cure the issue if it still persists after the desmog.
