Engine rattle?

Good evening... I apologize in advance, I know there's many topics on noises and the like. So if there is an existing thread that matches my situation, please point me in the right direction.

After the engine is warm, I can her a fairly aggressive rattle under the tank above 3-3500rpm. I can't easily tell if it's tank, exhaust or internal engine related. The engine runs like a champ and everything feels/seems normal.

In case the signature doesn't show:
07 f
17k miles... I'm due for the second valve check/adjustment.
Desmog
V&H exhaust

Any ideas on what it might be or what I can check?

Put a glove on and start grabbing/pushing on every part you can until you find it. Start with the chrome dash panel on teh tank. Second most popular is the wires inside the headlight shell. See Bareasschoppers.com for that. Third, check the tank hold down bolt, I forgot to tighten mine once and it rattled. After these it could be anything, exhaust heat shields, spark plug covers, anything......................

Garage
Valve rattle should be steady without skipping a beat, and change up & down with slightest RPM change...
Other rattles will be missing and skip a beat or miss a beat (normally).

Check as above It can drive ya nuts and is always the very last thing you check !! And get that Valve adjustment done...

I can do all of this within the hour... valves within the next month.

I should say that the racket starts clearly around the 3-3500 Rpm range, not getting louder.

I do hear the valve ticks separate.

Do not tighten the heat shield clamp too much! Just snug it up to the pipe, if you tighten too much, when the pipe heats up the band clamp mount on the heat shield will snap off
