VTX1300C front tire size

I'm going to need new tires this winter so I'm looking around. I'm getting the Avon Cobra 200/60VR16 for the rear of my bike, I've been running a bridgestone battleaxe the last few years and it's a great tire but I want to try something different. This will be the 3rd season for the front Avon Venom and after this riding year is over it will have 18000 on it. It's definitely a great tire but I want a matching set (radials). The stock tire size is 110/90/19 and the closest Avon Cobra I can find is a 120/70ZR19. It's a little wider and a little lower profile.

Specification....Sidewall....Radius.....Diameter.. ...Circumference....Revolutions....Speedometer.... ....Odometer.......Difference
110/90-19........3.9"........13.4"........26.8".......... 84.2"................753/mi..........60MPH..............10000mi.........N/A
120/70-19........3.3"........12.8"........25.6".......... 80.5"................787/mi..........63MPH..............10461mi.........-4.4%

Anyone see any problems??

No problem pal, I don't see any problems just looking for some opinions.

I fit a 130/90/17 on the front of my "C", a 120 should be no problem. The rib on the side wall rubbed the front fender mount. I fixed it by drilling a 1.5" hole.

Thanks I'm not to worried really about the width I just don't want a big gap between the top of the tire and the fender. I know there will be more than whats there now since it is a lower profile. I'll probably go with a different fender to compensate.

If you're that committed to the project then absolutely the 120 tire will work.

Re: VTX1300C front tire size

Fev,

I am running the BattleAxe on the back and a Metzler 120/70/ZR19 on the front. It actually looks a little narrower and it is a little shorter. I used dynabeads and currently have 10,000 miles on this set up. It has never rode or handled better. At 10,000 miles they both look great. (thanks for the wheel, by the way). There is a 110/80/19 radial out there that is a little closer to the 110/90 in size, but I did not see this before getting my 120/70. I personally recommend this setup to anyone doing the Foots/Slapjack mod. You won't be disappointed.

Hope this helps,

Steel

Yes you can as I have one on mine and am still alive to answer this question.

Also congrats on bringing a 9 year old thread back to life. Welcome to the forum.
