Dual function flashing brake light.

Hey everyone! I'm the new guy. Just bought an '05 vtx1300r. Love the bike. I want to install a flashing brake light that also serves as a running light. I am a bit confused on what I should get. Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

I bought the Back-off XP @ $35. Installed it under right side cover. Another choice is Kuryakyn Triple Whammy@ $100 which does a lot more. You'll see when you research it.

You can get a Kuryakyn Run-Turn-Brake module, for around $30, maybe less, or a deluxe Kury RTB with chromed bezels and red lenses for $40-something. The brake & turns all flash 3 times, then go solid in 'brake' mode. If you just buy the module alone, you will need to do something with your amber lenses, possibly like Renegade Rick did and get a small can of Testor's Candy Apple Red translucent paint, and spray the lenses lightly for color. They do the job!

Welcome New guy. I have a Run Turn Brake module on my 05 1300R. Makes the rear directionals stay on all of the time like your taillight. Which brightens up the rear to make it more noticeable and blinks the brake light three times when you first apply it. Both of these make you more visual and in my opinion safer from rear end issues.

The earlier I get behind, the longer I will have to try and catch up.
It doesn't take me all day to get nothing done; I can get nothing done by break time.

Cool

Welcome to the board from Daytona Beach. I'm going to try something on my 1300c. I have done it to some other bike's that i have had. I want the rear turn signal's to stay on and have them be brake and turn also. I'm going to use a set of front turn signal and take the sockets out of them. I will put them in the rear turn signal housing's and wire them into the rear brake light. Then I will have the run, turn and brake light's. I started doing this back in the 70's. I notice that the Harley's have the same setup now. So hopefully it all works out. Good luck with what you want.. Ride safely and enjoy.

I had the Signal Minder SM-3. It's programmable for all the functions, you decide what you want and don't want, rear running lights, 2 1/2 second flashing brake lights, time programmable turn signal cancellation (with or without a brake override, if you are stuck in traffic while making a turn the turn signal cancellation can be put on hold until you release the brake), 4 way flashers, escort mode (L-R alternate flash). My main use was running lights and the 4 way flashers. Flashers are nice if you ever need to stop in traffic or alongside it and you are just there like a sitting duck, both of my beemers have it is standard feature.

I'm personally not a fan of "flashing" lights (I have the Kuryakyn kit but have the flash turned off) ... but absolutely LOVE the "run turn brake" option! The more lights... the better!

I added these 3rd taillight (with LED replacement bulbs) mounted to my saddlebags (all removable) ... and they are also powered from the Kuryakyn kit.
