I was having a similar problem once. It turned out the cable ? that is tightened to the grip mounts kept spinning out and the throttle slack would increase. I would finger tighten it and even tried pliers but it kept coming out! Dealer tightened it and no issues since however. So the fix was $95/hr. And not tightening it...
You should make sure the cables are routed properly, like one poster commented that will cause it. Been there and done that. If they were pulled in too tightly that causes them to bind.
You won't damage anything riding it like that. Just a pita. In the case of someone pulling out in front of you or you having to stop quickly it could mean the difference between crashing and not crashing.
Lube Your Cables. they get gummy then they break. Refer to my 12 mile idle home post. Lube and check your cables every time you change your oil. it will save you from a bad day.
