Actually, the second number, the aspect ratio, is the percentage of the width (first number). So a 205/60/16 means tread is 205 mm wide. Sidewall height is 60% of 205, and it is made for a 16" rim. A capital R would indicate radial.

I've actually done the same change in front tire size on my Spirit 750, and thought the bike handled even BETTER. I thought it tended to lean over a little more in the corners, which I liked, but otherwise no difference.
