total newbe question on rear lights

Ok this is a dumb one . I have an 04 VTX 1300 with factory lights, the front of the bike has 2 amber marker lights, they are on all the time and act as the turn signals. The rear has 2 amber marker lights that do NOT light up. They do work as turn signals though. Is that normal? do I need to change the lenses to red? Are they supposed to be on all the time like the front? or are they strictly turn signals? I do have the factory tail/brake light on the fender.

Garage
That's why so many folks modify the rear lighting on the X's. Makes it much more noticeable for the other drivers. Lots of options to choose from though.
Good luck, and safe riding.

Nothing on the rear stays lit except red. You can install front signals on the rear And you would have 3 reds on and 2 yellow signals only. More lights the beter.

Kuryakyn sells a kit called "The Triple Whammy" that solves your problem!
Wiring is "plug & play" and kit comes with red lenses and nice chrome bezels.

I run this on mine... it's great! Probably a life-saver too!

seconded, installed that 12 or so years ago, haven't had to touch it since. Bezels are also one of the best bang for the buck looks improvement. get the front ones too
