Any one know how the Airhawk & the ButtBuffer stack up against each other?

I don't know anything about the ButtBuffer, but the Airhawk is fantastic, IMO.
It's a little pricy, but after a long ride, you'll find it's well worth it. I've had mine about 4 years with no problems whatsoever, even though it's warrantied.

I have the buttbuffer on my stock seat.
Didn't what to spend the money for a new seat and someone suggested the Buttbuffer. I got the one with a sheep skin cover and it's great. I rode 407 miles without the numb butt. My only complaint it it sets me up 1 1/2 inches higher. But it's worth it. The sheep skin helps keep the butt dryer. I may get a mustang seat later but will still use the buffer on it.

Have only used the airhawk. I'd be lost w/o it; don't know how anything could be better. But you never know.

No experience with the Buttbuffer but I have the Airhawk and wouldn't leave without it. It sits on the Mustang touring seat w/backrest.
Very comfortable ride!

I have both. The Airhawk is 1000% better than the butt buffer. I just rode 1466 miles with the Airhawk on a stock seat.

I did 3,000 miles a week or so ago and the gel pad did what they said it would do. In the saddle for over 3 hours a couple of times. The best $$$ I have spent for comfort.

I've got both, wouldn't go on a trip without the Airhawk.
the ButtBuffer is a waste of money for me; more uncomfortable with it than with just the stock seat.

The Airhawk has been really great for me. I've used it on the stock seat to complete several Iron Butt rides without any problems.
Indeed, just finished a Ride Around Georgia SS1k (~19.5 hours) with no discomfort in the buns!
In my view, the advantage of the Airhawk over gel is that you can really change the pressure points on your bottom while you're riding. Shifting your weight on the Airhawk causes the air to move around the cells making a sore spot just disappear.

I put a post a couple weeks ago about gel pads. The few people that had something to say are against gel. I got a surprise when Michael Miller of So Cal cycle seats sent me an email. He was concerned that I was not getting any answers to my simple question. After calling him and checking out his web site http://www.socalcycleseats.com. I also spent 2 hours on the web researching every type of pad. I got one of his gel seat pads. I didnt want a pad that had air or water in it. What if it got a hole, or burst half way on a 3500 miles trip. I would be back to NO pad! So gel does fill the need for extra comfort I'm looking for. I got the pad from Mr. Miller and the quality exceeds my expectation. I have not used it on my bike since we have 8 inches of snow. I'm using to sit at my computer on my Oak chair. its nice and soft. The cover is a very clean looking and soft material. This seat comes in a few sizes I'm 5"10 240 and got the large. The size fits perfectly for me. The bottom has anti slip material, its like the stuff you put under a rug on vinyl flooring so the rug doesnt move. But it appears heavier duty then the one in my kitchen. Since we all ride a lot. I got a product that will make riding more comfy without a new seat for half the cost of the Air Hawk. Just wanted to let you know. I'll put a post on here when I finally get to ride with it.

I have a matteress with a gel type material on top and after three years it has taken my shape and is not as good as before I got this matteress. I've had an Air Hawk for almost five years and it still is in use with no signs of leakage!!!!!!! Plus I had a gel pad refurbisment to my stock seat and it helped but didn't quite do the trick!!!!!!!! All in all I hope it works for you!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and I have the Ultimate Big Boy seat, (nine hundred bucks) and I still use the Air Hawk!!!!!!! 8)
