Anyone here switched their fork springs? Was it worth the cost? Effort?

Any problems or issues to be aware of?

I think it was worth it, will know more as the season progresses. Let's ride, you can try em out.

Got the springs in. One side just about falls in. The other side...well...everything has it's evil twin now doesn't it? There are some tricks to make a bit less evil though.

This would make a great tech day thing but looks like you were the only respondant Ux and you had them already. Oh well.

I have been eyeballing those 440's. I think that is going to be a Memorial day item. :D

I'd love to have 440s for the smokies...

I was thinking the same thing. The good news is installing those is maybe one notch in degree of difficulty above putting gas in the tank. Getting them for $360 instead of $400 takes some of the sting out of it too.

Yep, something I will do myself even in my lazy state of mind! :)

Let me know if you find a deal eh?

Thoughts on 440s...

I was thinking of getting the 12.5" rear springs to raise myself up a little because I am wearing the crap outta my nuts... er... peg bottom nut thingies... but since I had the front springs replaced I already feel I am not dragging as much and Chip said that the stockers sag quickly so I feel getting a near stock height 440 will actually bring me up a tad.

So my thought is the 11.5" rear 440s should be a great height.

Anybody have any thoughts on that?

I think Bare's site says that the PS springs for the VTX raise you up about 0.5 inches. If you put the Gwing springs in yet another 1/2 inch. I think the folks that go lower in the rear do it mostly for looks. Seems to me everything I have read says that anything below 11.5 and they are too stiff and can bottom out. Of course that might have been the 412's. I am thinking of going with the 12 inchers.

Some of all that may be load related to. Remember this bike appeals to a diverse population including some on the high end of the spectrum. I know cuz I am getting closer.

You could buy a nice green X... springs should be less compressed on that one.

That green X sold like hotcakes. I guess the guy that bought it is going to do some performance mods including nitrous.

Smokem if you gottem!
