I know this has been talked about before but there are always new products coming out and I am now in the market for something with a great mount for my VTX. I am riding a 1800S with stock bars and thats what the mount would need to fit. Pics mounted woud be awesome! Any advise on the mount and a good gps would be great also! Thanks in advance!

Garmin 2610 with a RAM mount works well for me.

RoadRage Jeff makes a MasterCylinder cover with a machined slot for the Garmin series GPS. I love my old StreetPilot. Do a search for him on this site.

Go with the Ram mount regardless of which GPS, it's definately the best IMHO.

As for a GPS, I have the Magellen 760 and it performs perfectly. With the Ram mount, it moves from one vehicle to another in a second.

Cycle Gadgets has some good information and they sell either the Tech Mounts or the Ram Mounts. I have used both mounting systems and prefer the Ram line. The Tech mounts are really nice and very sleek looking but the Ram mounts seem more stable to me. The Garmin Street Pilot series is pretty hard to beat. I am currently using the 2720 model. 3D view, color touch screen, and voice prompts are are worthwhile options in my opinion.

Check with BeastX. I was running with him the other day with his Lowrance unit. I don't know what kind of mount it is but it really works well and this Lowrance unit seems to be the MacDaddy of the GPS's I have seen to date. I could read it while running behind him. (80mph indicated on the X and 72 verified on the GPS) I am saving my pennies for this unit. It is my next gotta have it for my X.

It was probably a ram mount as that usually comes with the Lowrance.

No, it doesn't. It's a Delphi Forum I visit every day along with thousands of other folks. Your virsus software is giving you a false indication. You do have to sign up for a free Delphi membership to get to it, though. Forgot to mention that

Ed is right, reguardless of which GPSr you buy the RAM mounting system is the way to go. I have a Magellan Meridian Gold and just recently purchased my RAM system from CycleGadgets and I love it.

The wife and I use the Garmin MAP60CS. I think Garmin has a new version of it out now MAP60CSX which uses an additional memory card in order to hold more maps but we love ours and with the 56MB of internal memory we've never overloaded it. We use a RAM mount. Here's our setup.

This is what I use. Only makes sense if you already use a Treo cellphone, but if you do, it's great. Here's the link about it.

i have the garmin 2720 with the tourateck lockable mount it is expencive but second to none. the garmin 2720 has a hard wire setup u can buy but beware the voice promps as in almost any gps is mono sound and can be troublesome wiring into a sterio system.best advice i can give is stay away from any gps with a hard drive.think of a gps with a hard drive like a cd player on a bike, some will disput this but thats how i see it.sorry no pictures yet its a new mod but is it ever sweet works perfectly.

I have the Garmin 2730 and just love it with a ram mount from cyclegadgets.com. I also bought the Autocom Super Pro AVI Intercom system to be able to communicate with my wife and have music for both of us via the built in XM Radio plus 750 MB of MP3 storage.

A new Garmin unit is coming out in October which is the Zumo 500 which is similar to the 2730 but has a SD Card Slot for expanding memory. They use Flash Memory and not a hard drive which is great but avoid any unit with a hard drive as the bike's vibration causes them to malfunction.

I wonder how well that would hold up without the windshiled...

Dito on the RAm mount remarks. I run a C with no windshield and like the bike to look stripped down at times. The RAM mount only leaves a ball when I take my techie stuff off.
