I will be moving to Summerville in about two months and was wondering if there is some place in South Carolina in or around Summerville that you might meet. I would like to meet fellow VTX riders and get to know the area from thoses who ride. :)

Welcome to SC. The good news is there are lots of X riders in your area on the board. Also the annual Heritage rally is in your neck of the woods although you missed it for this year. Myrtle Beach has two rallys a year so you can get to those fairly easy.

Welcome to SC, SD
I live in Summerville. There are a group of riders down here. Although I haven't had the pleasure of riding with them ....yet, I am looking forward to that day. You can pretty much ride all year long. Looking forward to meeting and riding with you.

Funny BUT I am also planning on the move to S. Why would it need to be brought back to stock? And yes they are real peanuts.

I "thought" some states had real issues with loud pipes...that is all...well that & registering the bike in S.Carolina.

Thanks for the response. :D

Lots of great riding in the Summerville area.
I am the ride co-ordinator for the Heritage M/C rally and want to extend an invite to all to join me at the next rally for our 2nd Annual ride of the "Lady in Black", Darlington International Raceway.
April 12, I took 213 bikes (I counted 5 Xs) and we got 3 laps with only 25 bikes on the track at a time. I did my laps at 85 mph but others went faster.
All proceeds to the Greenvill Shriners' Hosp.
Contact me with questions. 843-873-8357
I also have a total of 1200 miles of organized rides through the area during the Bike Rally. I also keep the peace with the Million Dollar Bike Build Off competitors.
Ride Safe and keep in touch.

Why are some many people moving to SC? My guess would be lower taxes and lower cost of living. There is some great riding in the upstate also. BTW, welcome to the Wonderful Iodine State.

Kind of strange, but I too am getting tired of florida, taxes, insurance and home cost is so stupid, it's unreal. I lived here since 76 and I've been researching in columbia area. I do new home plumbing, getting a job should be good. Does the snow reach columbia, do you ride year round?

About 65 miles away from Chapin.

Yes, I ride year around. Very seldom does it snow in the midlands of SC and when it does it doesn't last long.

I would be more than happy to make you one, except I'm in Beijing, China for the next 8 months. I've already got one heck of a honeydo list waiting on me and I've only been gone for 5 months. I'll have to see how things go when I get home. I really miss my shop :!: :!: Remind me again in March '07, I've got three blanks on my bench waiting to be finished.

Here's a post with pics of China if you'd like to see them.

Well, I was delayed in moving to S.C. early this year due to alot of different things, but all is back on line for the move. I'm leaving the state of my birth mainly because I can't see having to work for another 15 years just to pay off my home and still having to work to keep up with the taxes. California has truly become the land of fruits and nuts. I hope to be in the Charleston area before Dec. and look forward to meeting many fellow VTX riders.

I moved here from Santa Clarita, CA about 2 months ago & I am liking it so far...yes it is different & I do miss the mountains of California, ripping it on the twisties out there! That is sort of a bummer...no elevation changes out here...no desert....no mountains...(I was heavily involed in moutain biking & that ain't hapinin out here!!     ) BUT the country sure is pretty & the thick green forest's are a nice change from the "Dry" climate of S.Cal. You are in for a culture shock for sure!...but way fun in so many ways..PLUS the properties are cheap out here compared to S. Cal!...SELL QUICK cause as you know the market out there is falling FAST!....I would have lost 40,000-60,000 more by now if I did not sell when I did! For that I am grateful!...ALSO I am renting for 6 months to see just "where" I want to live b-4 just buying a house because I can. ...Good Luck with the move! :D

I was in Chapin two weekends ago camping at Dreher Island state park. You have some nice riding up there compared to where I live. Sure, it isn't SoCal, but it at that bad either.

My house has been on the market close to two week. Lots of lookers but no offers to date. I'm hoping that I can be in S.C. by Dec., but I realize that selling a home right now is a slow process. I'm looking at the Goose Creek area as I will be working at MUSC later next year. I have been so ready to leave Calif. for a couple of years now. Will keep all updated on the move. I look foward to riding with some, if not all of you. :)

It has be a long haul, starting in June of last year, trying to sell my home in Calif. so that I can leave here once and for all. Well, i will be on the road on the 7th of Feb and in South Carolina around the 12-14th. I will be moving into the North Charleston area and look forward to a new life. I look foward to meeting and riding with many of you soon. :P
