Yesterday my new seat (mustang wide) came in and this morning I got up and rode to summit of Haleakala crater at 10,000 feet. It was kind of cold but it was awesome. Probably do it again this week with the wife if she 'll come. Beautiful ride. At the top it was cloudy but I was looking over top of some of the clouds and standing in the middle of others that were going by. I tried to get some pics and only got 4 before the battery went dead. The seat is great by the way. I should have got it a long time ago. I definately feel more secure in it compared to the stock saddle. Aloha from MAUI!

How did the engine take the altitude? I lived in Colorado and had to jet it way down.

It was giving alot of decel pops or like a garguling sound on the way down. Is it okay to ride at that elevation without changing anything? I rode to work today and it seemed to be like normal.

It won't hurt anything but the change in altitude means more air to fuel ratio and I have to change my Power Commander Settings to get rid of that if I am going to be at a high altitude for a long time but if it just for the day no big deal.
Decel pop is caused because of the wrong air/fuel ratio which is changed when you go to a different altitude because the air is thinner or has less oxygen in it!!!
I am so jealous of you in Maui and Kauai as I go there every year to vacation. I normally stay at the Marriott in Kaanapali or the Kauai Lagoons in Kauai. I wish I could rent a VTX 1800R while in either Maui or Kauai as I don't really want to rent a Harley as I almost did last year. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. MAHALO!!!
