aftermarket pipes.. ok folks we are getting in to that time of year when we need to bring our beloved X's in to be inspected.. with some of the new laws that passed I would expect we will run accross those insp stations that
wont even look at our bikes if it's got pipes on them..

you can see what the status of the passed laws are at

http://www.nhmro.org/

lets start listing those insp stations that do and don't

I know where I'll be goin.. Naults Manchester.. They are selling Bikes off the floor with Big Shots and Jugg Huggers..

but I would expet that the different INSP stations wil start to warn us and probably make sure the pipes are baffled.. who knows they might even start testing.. for an increased inspection price of course..

list them out folks..

last year profile honda in conway refused to inspect anything with aftermarket pipes. from what i heard conway harley would only inspect harleys, i got mine inspected at olsons in albany with my V & H's with thundermonsters. he just asked if they had baffles and i said yes.

QBR - Quint Boivere(sp?) Racing in Littleton has never balked at my bike. He is an excellent wrench and has the knowledge to follow it up. He used to work for a dealership and when it got sold (i believe the 2nd time) he went out on his own and hasn't looked back. I haven't run into any problems up here, I know I won't take it to Dalton Mountain Motorsports this year, last time I brought it in to them for an inspection I noticed it going up the road as I was standing on the showroom floor, they did a road test??? WTF! Just an excuse to ride a real bike for a mechanic!

Do you really think it is a good idea to post the stations that are letting loud pipes slip by? Seems to me that its just an invitation for DOT to visit them. I get mind inspected and i'll tell ya who it is but i'd never put the name of his shop on here! Just out of respect for him.He is doing me a favor by letting me pass.

Thats a thought, maybe we could list the stations that are being sticklers
about them, I guess that was my intentions and thought process all along..

How about if we have non-oem pipes and we get lucky enough to pass inspection we PM Roger. Then if someone is having a hard time getting their bike inspected we just PM Roger and he sends us a list ??

Roger, would that be ok with you?

Just wanted to post an update on here for anyone in the north country. I went with a buddy for a ride today to get his bike inspected at QBR - Quint Boiviere (sp?) Racing in Littleton on School Street and he flat out denied the inspection. The bike is set up almost identical to mine, except his side plate mount is horizontal like Rogers and he has directionals on the rear in his led taillight. The whole denial took about 3 seconds, my buddy pulled his X inside the shop and he immediately stated he couldn't do it. He further went into detail and explained that it had a side mount plate and couldn't be inspected, it had to be mounted in the original location provided by the factory. He did tell us about a guy stopped with a sportbike with a fender eliminator kit, that got a ticket and had to put it back to stock and that they were (highway enforcement) were at the blessing and wrote 180 +- tickets for pipes/plates/directionals all being aftermarket. He did say that he himself has loud pipes on his bike, he didn't seem worried about the bigshots on his bike, just the plate and the directionals.

We later went to a shop that thought the mount and directionals were cool and it passed inspection with flying colors. I'm posting this here, anyone on the boards hear of anything like this, or is he being hyper technical? I figured I would have heard about the massive enforcement effort at the blessing in colebrook, but hadn't heard anything. I was in mexico, but I still would have gotten wind about something like that!

boy thats a switch on things huh.. plate mounts and led lights... Pipes good..

I can see the Led as they are not DOT.. but the plate mount should be ok..

The reason I went Horizontal was I believe the law states plate mounts need to be Horizontal..

ahh well another insp season done with..

Happy 4th.. ride hard n safe

All I can say is if that is indeed the case and we have to start mounting them back on the fender, it's gonna be hell. I could see a huge market for new fenders, or hopefully someone is adept at welding and can tack a bracket back up there! I know I cut mine off, I was trying to remember if there was something I could bolt a bracket to if needed in the future, but I am sticking to the side plate for now as I think it looks alot better!
