Heading up with a group to Maggie Valley in a few weeks looking for some good Carolina B-B-Q. Any in the area? If you got an address I'll GPS it.

Good luck finding any REAL good BBQ up that way. Dillsboro NC has the Dillsboro Smokehouse,it's pretty good. Asheville has Little Pigs BBQ.

My Mom and Dad ride all the way from Kannapolis just to buy Lexington BBQ and bring it home. I myself think there are other BBQ joints closer that are just as good.

Here in the Midlands of SC the one I really like is the "School House" in Scranton SC on US52, south of Florence. WISTV voted them best in the midlands last year and they don't disappoint either.

Having said all of this I apoligize for hijacking this thread. It's just BBQ is so very subjective when it comes to what people like and dislike. Mustard, vinegar or tomato sauce. Hash or not. You know the list is endless. There is some college professor on a sabatical going to every BBQ joint here in SC and documenting how each one does their own style of BBQ. Sounds like a job I could learn to love. LOL

I talked to that guy via e mail..he went by my favorite place "The Monk " here 8) in Lexington. Told him if he ever get's back this way I would buy him a plate of Q..pretty cool guy. The monk is the best around here in my opinion. I have eaten LOTS of BBQ all over the south. I like most of it but the Monk get's the nod around these parts. Speedy's is good too.
