Excellent Ride from Hot Springs to Mena..It's fun when you get a young cager that wants to lead you real fast from Mt. Ida to Mena...Arrived in Mena, stopped at favorite Texaco to top off(Always fill er up before you climb up the Mountain). This being my 4th time up, I always seem to forget just how frigging beautiful riding up. Spring is a little behind the higher you go..Crisp, clear skies allowing you to see many many miles. There are a few pot holes that havnt been filled. No biggy. Now for the windy part....damn!!! With my big ol beer belly acting as a giant sail, and the cross winds of about 30-40 mph, I was sure I would sent over the mountain side in a new sport called x-hang gliding.(or tumbling). Yet i hung on and made it to the lodge where I met 3 harleys,2 Kawa sports and a couple on an Italian bike(Aprila). Ate lunch with em.(less than 6.00) and warned them that a bunch of us would be there next Saturday at noon. She said "bring it on!". They will open the Heritage room for us if there are a bunch of us. As I ate, I watched to "lodge Dog" walk up to my X and give a good welcome shower to the front wheel. He then tried to jump onto the seat. The other bikers thought is was real funny until he went down the line and did the same to each of their bikes. Then I laughed!!hee-hee..I told them all...see...it aint the make that counts...just that you ride!!! After lunch, I led the Kawasaki sport bikes dudes out of Mena South on Hwy 8 for a little high spirited twistie naughtiness....They were headed for Memphis...We said so long in Glenwood where they continued south and I headed home to da Springs..If you are coming up for lunch, be sure to ride your ability level because the parkway is very friendly to the rider but can easily get you out of shape and there will be lots of Sr. Citizens in cages up there so DONT cross that yellow line...It is gonna be a blast..Dont forget your cameras!!!You will want a picture of your X above the clouds....Its awesome!!! Only problem is I have developed a wobble 0-30mph....hum...tires??? See ya There!!!
