Pit's Rule

Thurs June 22 thru Friday June 30, about 15-18 of us are camping at Stonebridge Campground in Maggie Valley. We will ride to Knoxville on Saturday to catch the tail end of the Hoot. The rest of the trip will be just beautiful riding on the twisties!
Age of riders range from 19 to 72! We have 5 X's in the group so far, the rest are a mixed bag. (That's OK, we slow down for them anyway, he! he!)
Some have motorhomes, travel trailers, pop-ups, tents and some are staying in cabins at the campground. There are also several motels close by, but remember, if you are interested, the smart bet would be to make reservations NOW, and cancel later if you can't make it. Things fill up VERY fast!
Other than Sat morning (we will probably leave around 8:00 am for the ride to Knoxville) we generally leave the campground around 10:00 am (weather permitting) and get back in around 5:00-6:00 pm. Rides average 150-250 miles,(remember, these are mtn miles) with frequent stops to accomodate such a diverse group.
As a general rule, you will average 30-45 minutes at a time in the saddle (this helps with seat fatigue, back problems, small bladders, nagging wives, oops! I don't think I was supposed to say that! etc.) if that is an issue. Those that like to run a little on the warm side generally lead, and the more sane bring up the rear.
Evenings are spent around the campfire with a little spirits and there are several pickers in the group, so you will likely be exposed to a variety of "slightly less than proffessional"pickin and grinnin! Very much a family type atmosphere. (Sorry guys, no wet T-shirt contests on this trip!)
Expect to ride the BRPKY, Cherohala, Dragon's Tail, Foothills PKWY, Wayah Rd and many less traveled roads! If this sounds like your idea of a good time, we would love to have you!!!
