Hello all. Well, I did it! I found an '05 F model for the right price and I pick her up on 6/10. I can't wait! Titanium w/tribal. Owned a '84 V65 Magna, am curious how the two compare. Also, are there any issues I should be aware of? I read a lot about the flange bearing thing, has that been taken care of for '05? Should I get an extended warranty? Thanx for the help, this site is absolutely great. :D

#1 where in IL are you from?
#2 Don't "worry" about the flange bearing. That has been a problem in very few bikes overall AND - there's not much you can do to prevent it...just fix it if you do end up having the problem.

The only definite issue that I am aware of is the horrible stock seat...maybe the F seat is better but, some how, I doubt it.
and possibly (might not apply to the 05s):
-Fix/clean up the ground connections
-Double check the dealer installed bolts
-.....can't really think of anything else.....

Other than that - RIDE>>>>>>>>>>>

Thanx for the info. I am in Romeoville, IL. Near Joliet. So, the stock seat is no good? Which seat do you suggest? I am familiar with checking the grounds, my V65 had a short that took forever to locate and fix. I plan on doing a lot of things myself, are there certain things that only a dealer should do?

Congrats on the F! You will love it! I have two Corbin seats. I love the comfort of them. The Hollywood Solo seat fits like crap around the tank. I may try the Ultimate after I see some pictures of it close up on the F.

Hey all, just an update, I couldn't wait so I drove down to Searcy, Arkansas on Friday and picked up my F model! I was supposed to get it on 06/10 but after the Memorial day weekend weather I just couldn't stand to have to wait two more weeks. My friend and I left Fri. at 10pm and drove through the night, got down there at 7am, had breakfast, picked up the bike, and drove straight back. This bike is sooo much more than I expected, it is damn fast! So thanks to everyone at Sunrise Honda Motorsport in Searcy, Arkansas. They were truley great to deal with, very nice folks. I got the bike for $10,200 out the door, and they have a lot of other new '05 1800's to choose from as well. So if anyone is looking, or knows someone who is looking for a new bike, look them up and give them a call, there prices are just about unbeatable. Anyway, I hope to see a lot of people at the m&g at the broken oar!

First, congrats on getting your X! Second, welcome to the board! Third, about the comparison with the V65 Magna, I had an '83 and there is really no comparison, the Magna was a great bike but it doesn't have the torque that the X has, it has a 6 speed transmission, but you had to wind the engine up to high revs to get anykind of torque out of it. Both are great bikes in their areas and times, but the Magna was a great 1/4 mile bike and the X is a great high speed roll on type of bike, JMHO......... :D
