View Full Version : Large Turnout!
Rode to the "Support the Troops" rally in Cleveland and thousands of riders turned out for the event. Was kind of impressive seeing the lines of bikes streaming into town from all directions in support of our troops abroad. I just wonder if our sons and daughters of the armed forces get to see this and know how proud we are of them?
I met up with BigV and the guys at Steak and Lube and had a good time BS'n and riding to the event with them, somehow we got seperated in the huge crowd. I'm sure we'll hook up again and put on more miles together.

Ya that was an awesome rally  . Too bad we didn't run into each other. How many bikes did we join up there? It had to be quite a few :D . Glad we could show our boys and girls that we are behind them.

I'm kind of at a loss when I figure that we have around 70 members in the N.E. Chapter alone and only see 2 or 3 that ride. Most of the guys I've met are from out of the area. With the weather turning good and all the outdoor work needing done it may be part of the getting out problem. Proffesser even got lost somewhere out there and has yet to turn up

I can't believe that I totally missed this!! I was out in Newbury, Middlefield & Chesterland at this time. I'm so bummed. What a perfect time it must have been. I need to pay attention more.

That's cool we had so many members there, but how many bikes total? I doubt if anyone knows, but it would be nice to know  It looked like thousands.
Last weekend was AWSOME! I got to meet DapperDan on Saturday and went for a great ride through the valley with him and a bunch of Fire Fighters. Sunday I met DonG and rode to Cleveland with him to show our support for our troops. The News reports said about 6,000 bikes were there, but I would guess 7,000 to 8,000 easy. It was a great time and I am definitely looking forward to meeting up with fellow Xers for some more great rides. Keep me in mind if youre planning something,
Thanks,

Was there any news coverage of this event?
Was there any news coverage of this event?
Yes, WGAR radio was pushing it before the event and the media was there with the camera's. I missed the news at night so can't tell you if it was shown.

We had a Support the Troops Rally here in Cincinnati last year that was put together in just under two weeks. The local Harley shop started it, I think. Wound up with something like 800 bikes.
I want to get something organized now especially since one of our local kids in being held captive. Problem is, I've never done anything like this and have absolutely no idea how to get it off the ground.
I will be happy to hear from anyone who has done something like this to point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Man your breaking my heart. I used to live in Warren, Ohio 32 years ago. Born and some what raised there. I visit every other year or so. Was up in Cleveland two years ago, loved the Rock of Fame. Man I would have given anything to be there to help support our troops. Enjoy your summer Buckeyes.

Don,
Met you down at Starbucks in Chagrin Falls. I wound up at that rally because the boss and I were having lunch with our daughter at the very same time. We rode down to public square and parked on the sidewalk within 500 feet of the rally. The three of us really appreciated the rally. I took some pictures which I will try to post. Too bad the Plain Dealer and local TV outlets didn't show more, or in some cases, any of this event. I'd be curious to find out how many bikes were actually there. Anyone have any guestimates? My figure is a gazillion.

Seems like any good news about our troops and the support they are receiving never gets much coverage but, show someone burning the flag or denouncing the war and cameras and microphones are all over the place.
I would love to see some of the pics you took MechE. Email to me if you wish.
Thanks
