I have the motocomm bike to bike system with motorolla talkabout radios. I tried them out over the weekend and it worked great. I think the only thing I might have done differently would have been to get stronger radios. The range for the radios that I have are suppose to be 8 miles on the GMRS frequencies and 1 mile on the FRS frquencies. We started out on the FRS, and when my girlfriend would get about 1/2 mile behind me, we would be out of range. So we switched to the gmrs and had no problems. I would question the 8 mile range though. There was one time when I went one way and she went another just because of personal preference. I think we were probably no more that 4 miles appart but could njt hear each other. I'm guessing it's probably because there were houses and such inbetween us. There was a disclaimer with the radios that said theat they bhad an 8 mile range in ideal conditions. But I'm still very happy with the set up. With 2 radios, 2 headsets, and one attachment for an mp3 player, the total set up only cost about $170.

I've never tried the firefox setup or the throat mic setup....The push to talk button mopunted to the handle bars worked out very well for me.

I sent this to Yergi a week ago, but I've been meaning to post it so everyone can read it. Yergi contacted FireFox and they are coming out witha new version that will allow you to use different headsets.

Someone else also also recommended motocom, so I think we will try them next.

Regarding the Firefox communicators:

Well, we're sending ours back. It actually works great, but the faster you go the harder it is to hear. Over about 50 mph you can't understand what the other person is saying - I couldn't even understand the lyrics to songs that I knew. Under 40mph it's fine. This was on a BMW and a VTX, both with stock exhaust, and with or without a windshield on the VTX.

The throat mike works fine, no wind noise. I think the speakers just aren't loud enough at speed. The speaker is actually on the neck ring and there are hollow tubes that lead up to your ears, with plugs. I don't know, maybe the plugs need a better design.

they would work great for certain things, but not for motorcycle riding at highway speeds. bummer.
