Okay, took a little ride today. Went on Route 7 North from Rutland, VT to Vergennes. This is a main thoroughfare for Western Vermont, road conditions were good with moderate traffic. No major issues with potholes or frostheave damage.

Turned south on 22A towards Bridport. Once out of Vergennes this is pure rural, fairly straight. Road in good condition.

I turned west onto Rt 17. Still rural, rolling hills, sweepers. Road is in good condition. Beware of sluff (dirt, grain, manure) on the road. Crossed the Crown Point Bridge into New York. Beware of NY state troopers hanging out 1/2 mile past bridge on left. Nice sweeping turns and flat.

Turned south on Rt 22. Rolling and easy turns to Ticonderoga. Caught the Fort Ti Cable Ferry, Bikes are $4 one way. 1/2 mile after getting off the ferry I turned Right on Rt 73 past Mount Independence. Be careful due to theheavy sluff on the road between the ferry and Rt 22A.

After Crossing 22a go thru the town of Orwell then hit hills and sweepers up to Rt 30 in Sudbury. Turned South on Rt 30 to go past Lake Hortonia and Bomoseen. This road is in fair condition. Frost heaves cracked the pavement, there are some potholes. Stopped at the LakeHouse in Bomoseen for refreshments then continued to rt 4 east back to Rutland.

Round trip was around 130 miles and quite enjoyable.

Did you see any of the boys in green out during your travels? I saw some hanging out near Plymouth (SP?) on rt 100 my last time in VT.

Anyways, excellent road report. Sounds like the North country is open for play time.

Only LEO seen was the NY Trooper as I crossed the Crown Point Bridge.

Got a chance to ride through the Adirondacks yesterday. Went from Warrensburg, NY to Ogdensburg, NY for a Patriot Guard gig. Great ride past Long Lake and Tupper Lake. Came home through Saranac Lake and Lake Placid.

So I have logged about 750 miles the last 2 days. 8)

You were at the Sovie services? Thanks, the family was very impressed by the turn out.

I attended his services and his Grandfather's. I didn't really know the young man but I know his Mom and all his extended family.

Very sad day for some really nice people.

I can report that Route 5 from Westminster to Thetford is in good condition, have made the treck to work that way a couple of times. Also 5 to route 2 all the way to Lancaster, NH is in good shape, particurarly considering all the water we've had fall from the sky.

There was a good turn out for the services. It seemed that the family did very well, to celebrate the life of Nick.
