Anyone know where I can get some small outdoor speakers. I am planning on putting a sterio on my X and dont feel like spending $500.00 for the road rumblers out there. 2 wheel tunes speakers are too small. Any options out there??

Here are a couple of pics of the speakers I put together for the Panasonic car stereo I had in the saddlebags.

Not sure what I was aiming at but here is a little closer view of part of the speakers. You can see that I also had some tweeters installed in the leather bag.

These were 4 1/2 inch speakers in a 5 " headlight shell. Bought the headlight shell from JC Whitney for $15.00 and the speakers were coaxial polypropylene. They still did not have enough bass to satisfy me while underway. Sounded ok when not moving. Much better than not having any tunes tho. If I were to do it again and I wanted better sound over looks I would find a shell that wold hold 5 1/4 " speakers. Ended up replacing the whole system with the Quadzilla Fairing with 4 speakers and I still need more bass. I just don't like to have headphone type speakers next to my ears.
Good luck,
Gary

Have ya looked at boat speakers? Ski tour speakers are made to boom over boat motor noise.

Are they on line?
Do you know the web address?
Quadzilla is just too much $$$ for me.
And would look too Harleyish.

You can get a set of Rumble Roads like I have from HDL for $299.95. Here's the link:

Unfortunatly I cant use amplified speakers. I am going to hook up a car sterio in my hardbag and run the speakers from there. Amplified speakers with an amplified sterio wouldnt work. I have heard of some who have made speaker housings from small headlight covers, but dont know if the bullit style is what I want.

You can buy the Rumble Road speakers unamplified. Check out their website:

I too am looking into adding speakers to plug mp3 into (using ear phones is getting a little old)...can anyone advise on the sound quality differences between amped and unamped??? Or is it you 'must' use amped with an mp3 or other portable audio device???

With the high noise levels present on a bike, you will have to have some sort of amplification. It can be built-in to the speakers or a separate unit. MP3 players just don't have enough power to drive speakers.
