Me again,
Just wanted to know if anyone had some expert advice on modifying the baffles on my stock pipes. I've had a couple friends say that using a 5/8 drill bit to the baffles will give a more throaty rumble compared to stock. I know cars, and I actually make my living working on Semi-trucks for Werner so I'm mechanically inclined. I've just never worked on something this small. So if there's any motorcycle mechanics out there that have already done this modification and know what to do and what not hit me up.

oh yeah im just looking for sound here not power, I know just working with the exhaust will do nothing for power gain untill you upgrade the intake and jets.

Try this. http://www.vtx1300tips.com/VTX1300TIPS. ... stockpipes (http://www.vtx1300tips.com/VTX1300TIPS.htm#drillingyourstockpipes)

Or you can do a search for "Clayton Mod" in the search link on this site (VTXOA). There are tons of peeps that did it. I never did.

Hope this helps.

VTXDick,

I have the 'Clayton Mod' on my X.... if ya want to hear it before doing it, meet up with us at the Willy's B-Day Bash around 10am tomorrow morning.

Or........ go to this sight http://www.kingofthecruisers.com/ and click on the sound bite button. Lots of diffent exhaust sounds that X'ers have posted, even the Clayton Mod.

I used a 3/8" X 12" bit and drilled several holes in the exhaust

Well thanks again for all the help, you guys kick ass. Yeah I won't be able to make it to Willy's B-Day Bash. I'd love to and heard it's a good ride. over 300 riders last year or something, but I work nightshifts and just got off an hour ago @7am so I'll be pass out. Sounds like the "clayton mod" is what i've been looking for, like I said before. Im looking for just a throaty deep rumble instead of the loudest pipes in omaha like my buddy Rob P. (Hard Krome 2 into 1) at Idle I can barely hear my stock pipes reving up. Have fun at the ride
