Ha Kev,

I know trends take a while to trickle down to texas, but GEEK is the new HIP, or haven't you heard?

so, restated, GEEK is purely a COMPLIMENT.

hell, if I knew what i was doing I'd be doing it.

be well friend,

Tim

Installed my MC Cruise over two years ago and wouldn't be without it. It's a plug and play unit. All you have to do is follow the instructions to the T.

A lot of members here are using the AudioVox CCS-100 car cruise control and it works great. I just bought one for around $90.00 and plan to install this winter. Do a search in the Tech forum for "Audiovox cruise" for lots of info.

I am having the MC Cruise Control installed on Saturday because I have heard it is fantastic and coupled with my Brakeaway Cruise Control and Ultimate X seats I should be in great shape to cruise long distances.

I have heard nothing but great things about this device.

if I ever have any spare money, I'll invest in one,

but I just went from the atlantic ocean to sturgis and back and found it absolutely unnecessary.

I have a problem where after 30 minutes my right thumb becomes numb so I need some relief. The Brakeaway has provided that but when I am in hilly country I am constantly adjusting the throttle so a real electronic cruise control would come in handy and since I do have the money I decided to treat myself to the MC Cruise Control so I can enjoy riding more on longer trips.

Nothing is absolutely necessary like a windshield, or saddle bags or GPS or XM Radio or cruise control but they sure make the riding experience one Hell of a lot better so that's why we add these things to out bike.

I've got so much stuff on my bike that my neighbor and another riding buddy call my bike the "Silver Wing" instead of Gold Wing because I damn near have everything that a Gold Wing has including an intercom system. I guess half the fun of having a bike is adding accessories and lots of chrome!!!

oh, don't get me wrong, if I had the buckage, I'd have one. I was just amazed at how comfortable I was during the entire trip.

I too suffer from severe carpal tunnel syndrome and I never can predict what will set it off in spades. Never bothered me at ALL this trip. Go figure, eh?

in case you are related to santa claus, I have been very very good, and want another bike... one to chop and one to dress up.

You want another bike, I was going to buy you an MC Cruise Control for your bike but now you got greedy so you get nothing but advice. Get the MC Cruise Control or if you can't afford IT get the Brakeaway Cruise Control and you'll enjoy riding your bike much more such as getting the Ultimate X seats.

Now you better be good between now and Christmas!!!

I knew it! Of all the Santas in the world to hook up with, I have to hook up with the BAD SANTA (did you ever see that movie?) vulgar and hilarious)

as I said before, I have been so GOOD that it makes me SICK. How about the Mc Cruise AND the second VTX?

where do you LIVE anyway? (and don't say the north pole)

I might head back out to south dakota again this summer on my bike. want to go?

I heard that the mc cruise was a simple plug in gadget. no? are you not a wrench? (I'm not either)

be well,

Tim

It takes about 4 to 5 hours to install it. We will be doing some of the stuff Saturday night and the rest Sunday morning. The guy who is selling me the unit is going to help me install it and provide direction and advice but I will be doing most of the work under his guidance. According to him it is not that difficult just tedious work that takes time to wire everything and secure everything and to strip it down like taking off chrome plates and covers so you can get to the parts underneath.

Peachtree City is a lovely place with a low crime rate because we have more police per capita than any city in America. They have won numerous awards for their activity so when you are here you don't speed or drink and drive or you will pay for it. Also, make sure all of your tail lights work or you will be pulled over and if you are drinking they will get you. It's bad in a way but good because it keeps the bad guys out of town.

come on, just because I LOOK like charlie manson, does not mean I AM charlie manson. Never judge a book by its cover... heh.

(I don't drink). haven't in 30 years. but boy did I ever when I was a kid.

tail lights are good.

it is that damned THROTTLE that might get me in peachtree.

and why so many cops? I have had nothing but bad experiences with cops in the past 10 or 15 years. Must be catching up with me for all the times they missed me in my youth.

sturgis is not over yet. lets GO!

Just got back from Spartanburg, S.C. where I had the MC Cruise Control installed and it took us 2 days and about 10 hours because I had a lot of mods on my bike but WOW is it a GREAT DEVICE. Much better than I imagined!!!

No more sore hands or numb thumb as this PUPPY works like a champ! It ain't cheap but it is worth it's weight in GOLD especially on a long trip which I haven't been on yet but I can just imagine it will be fantastic. It is a lot smoother than I imagined and very easy to engage and disengage because it takes a long time to fine tune it during installation to get it just right. However, once the install is over it is GRINNING TIME from ear to ear. It makes riding the bike so much more pleasureable and if you have to scratch something you can do it without any problem.

Hi

I have had one on my 03 1800C for about a year and a half now. No problems and I love it, worth every penny. Takes some time to install, but the install doc are well written and even have pictures. Works just like factory Car Cruise Control. Overall I'am very happy and it is nice to rest the right hand and wrist.

Have a Great Day, and Keep it between the Lines.

Well, just got back from the Labor Day Rally with Scarecrow and company and it was great and my MC Cruise Control worked better than expected. It is great for when I need to put it on cruise to adjust my XM Radio or switch over to MP3s or change a panel on my GPS. I've got this bike dialed in great and it is such a pleasure to ride.

I can't remember exactly but I think it was around $525 and then I paid Ron some cash to help me install it. He was the dealer that I purchased it from. It works just like a car cruise control. VERY VERY NICE when you want to scratch yourself or get the hair out of your eyes or whatever, you just hit the SET BUTTON and do your thing.

Especially nice when I want to switch settings on the Garmin GPS or the XM RADIO or the 30 gig IPOD!!!

I don't know what a GPS is, nor an iPod.

I will get one as soon as I can rob a bank.

send money.

How much do you need?? You really need to get into this GPS/IPOD thing. You know also I think that this INTERNET thing is really going to catch on!!!

yea, I invented this intranet thingy but let Gore have all the credit.

and I need TONS of money. I'm an artist, and constantly famished.

want to buy some art?

I actually know what those things are, but do not have the TIME or MONEY to research them more.

have you seen the new Mapquest type thing made by Microsoft? It is 3D and you can actually go down streets of major cites and look at the store fronts etc.

Why spent $500 if you can have one for $100 installing the AudioVox cruise control

here the link to my installation instructions: http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=167181

AudioVox cruise control work the same. A cruise control is a cruise control...some more expensve than others but performing exactly the same.

xxxrider
11-09-2006, 06:43 PM
Actually you are wrong!!! The Audiovox states that this unit is not designed for use on a motorcycle. They have specific disclaimers that say they are not liable if you use it on a motorcycle.

The MC Cruise Control has gone thru much thorough testing and was designed to be used on a motorcycle.

Thebigdaddy

Sorry but I'm not wrong.....I got it in my bike like hundreds of others VTX riders and I have not heard any problem. Like I said before cruise control is a cruise control. My boss got the MC in his HD and is no different at all, he rode my bike and he got surprise how reliable and accurate is mine. The only different is the price.

Disclaimers is exactly that, so the company protect themself in case of an accident.

xxxrider

Yes, if Audiovox was that confident that their product could be used on a motorcycle then they would be extremely ignorant not to advertise it as such so they could increase their market share.

They publish a disclaimer for a reason. Maybe they don't won't to be sued because they don't think it is entirely safe for a motorcycle.

That does not mean it won't work. I have a friend I ride with and he had one on his former bike and loved it. I am just not that confident when a company issues a disclaimer and tells you not to use it on a bike.

It is your MONEY so spend it the way that you want and allow me to spend mine the way the I want. If I had it all to do over again I would do it the same way.

Some people buy cheap tires to save money. I value my LIFE so I pay more and buy Michelin because I am more confident in their quality. Do what you want. Isn't that what America is all about. And allow me to spend my millions the way that I want to!!! LOL!!!

Thebigdaddy

I think I'm missing something here......I havent say anything about how you can spend your money or not. I just posted what I did with my bike like everybody else does, and I think (my own point of view) that $500 is a little much when it can be done for less. I know is your money and you can do whatever you want with it and I respect that. Please respect my opinion the same way I respect yours. In the same token I been working with electronics and engineering since 1980, I know what am doing in my bike. At least my extra money is for my daughter education and my retirement...LOL

People here are smart enough to choose what they want for their bikes and lifes. I dont try to convince nobody to do what I did, but at least more people had done the AudioVox modification than the MC, money wise or other isuue and is nothing wrong with that.

You challenged me as to why I spent $500 rather than $100. I did it BECAUSE I CAN!!!

Why do you care??? You act as if I am a dumba$$. I and a friend of mine researched this independantly and think that this is the best cruise control for a motorcycle and if something happens then they can be held liable.

If you and a bunch of others want to save money and buy a product that may be inferior and cause you to have a wreck then SO BE IT!!! We are comfortable in our decision and it appears you are happy with yours. So enjoy it as I and my friend will enjoy our units without a disclaimer.

Doesn't that tell you something??? BUYER BEWARE!!!

But there are alot of foolish people who pay the price. You may have your unit for 10 years and not have a problem and I hope you don't but if you do I don't want to hear about it!!!

This is the type of people I dont like here...PM sent

I never asked you why you spent the money or not. Go back and read my threads and be respectful, if you cant dont make comments.

If you can read, my thread wasnt directed to you, was general. I didnt point to your previous posts.
