Before I bought my Iway 500 I searched for photos of the unit installed on an 1800c. I did not find any so I decided to post some pics of mine after finishing the install. You will notice I did not do the normal bar mount. Instead I mounted it to the tree using the same RAM mount, minus the bar clamp. I agonized a lot over drilling the two 1/4 inch holes in the tree, but decided that if I ever got rid of the GPS I would fill the holes with two stainless steel bolts. That shouldn't look too bad, I hope! Because the unit is sitting over, and in fact, resting on the speedo housing, I have no problems using the rubber ball mounts provided. I have no vibration or bouncing as others have mentioned. It seems rock solid. I attached two small felt adhesive pads under the Iway where it touches the top of the speedo just to make sure the GPS did not scuff the metal.

For those of you currently using the Iway, specifically the MP3 player, I have a question for you. I have noticed, mainly when the unit is navigating in the "Route Via Waypoints" mode, that sometime the music will pause for just a fraction of a second. It is kind of like when a cd player skips due to vibration. I asked the tech at Lowrance about it and he said not to worry because it is somewhat normal. He said the processor in the unit sometimes has a hard time processing the routing and mapping functions while simultaneously playing MP3s. I am wondering if any of you have ever experienced the same problem. ( I say "problem" even though to me it's not much of a problem. It's more like a "little quirk" than anything.) Also, I was wondering if changing the bps setting when ripping MP3s from 128 bps to something higher would make it better, make it worse, or have no effect on the problem (quirk). I asked this of Lowrance, but the guy was unsure.

For anyone considering buying the Iway, I'll say that so far I absolutely love it! Hopefully the photos below will help you visualize how it will look on your ride.

Looking forward to seeing you again! It was in CO we got to see our OK friend's Iway 500c in action in his truck when we were looking for a Walmart nearby the hotel. After that ride Tejas was sold on it! So nice and easy to take off the bike and put in the car for usage there too.

I think that is awesome....plus it has a lot of protection from the elements.

Good Job.

Nice job. I used the bar mount and am OK with that. Never had a problem with the MP3 stopping, but it seems to keep playing when the voice comes in and talks. I thought I read the MP3 paused, but I don't think that's the case. After a 1450 mile ride last weekend into Northern CA, I'm sold on my choice of the iWay500C. Most that see it also like the big screen and functionality. 8)
