what brands/models do you have ? Cord or cordless, if coreded were did you get your power from on the vtx electrical ?
the last question is how did you mount the unit ?......Since honda only put a rev limiter with no speed limiter @ 70mph ....I figured if you get a couple of tkts. even at the min.. you could get a detector that would be well worth the $$$$......

The PASSPORT Escort 8500 is my choice. Tried the battery operated model & it was not as good as the aforementioned model. Consumer reports led me to the PASSPORT.

Wiring was easy. I installed a seperate home made accessory terminal directly wired to the battery terminals. Anytime an additional hot wire is needed, I hook it up to the accessory terminal junction point which is protect by a 10 amp in-line fuse. I chose not to connect to any electrical circuit controlled by the ignition switch so that several items can be used without requiring the ignition to be on.

Next I ran a wire from this accessory junction to a universal weather resistant cigarette lighter receptable that was mounted to the handle bar area behind the windshield. This is handy for several accessories used.

When ridling, I carry a tire pluging kit and a 12v air compressor to get me or other biker going if someone has a flat. Another accessory that can be used with this 12v receptable is an emergency light with it's own extenion cord. While riding, I plug my Radar detector into this power source. If I stop on the road & leave my bike, I take the radar detector with me.

There have been numerous posts of how folks have made/installed accessory terminals on their X's. I also used this accessory terminal as a point to power my airhorns and strobe lights.

Hope this helps.

I've got the K40 and I love it for it's fantastic sensitivity. I don't have it wired into my Autocom Super Pro AVI Intercom system yet but that may be my next project. I have the LED mounted right behind my speedo so I can see it and it also reflects into my windshield so I can see it there, pretty cool!!! I have it hard wired into the wiring under the right side cover.
