David, Bluto & Redbird or anyone else that can help me out.
I have an opportunity to buy a set of Hondaline studded bags w/brackets for $350 (used).
What are your thoughts? Its from someone on the board.
Will I be happy with these bags? I really don't think hard bags are an option.
Thanks

Blackubar,
I have them on my 2002C. They are OK, Don't hold as much as you'd think and the snaps that hold down the leading and trailing edge tend to pull thru but can be readily replaced with a kit from Walmart (UGH). That being said I wouldn't be without them.

Sorry, but I don't know the answer about functionality. But, compared to Hondaline prices it is a deal.
PS, I'm still waiting for the Saddleman bags ordered 5 weeks ago :(

Well, that is a pretty good deal. It all comes down to the look you are going for. Are you going to keep the bags on at all times? If you answer no to that, then you may want t oconsider something else. The Hondaline bags require a fairly large mounting assembly to be attached to the bike. The bags come off easily enough but the brackets stay on the bike. If you are looking for a more minimalist look and plan on having the bags off frequently, I would look at some leather bags and the Easy Off brackets. If the bags are going to stay on most of the time and you want the leather look (versus the hard bags) then I'd go for it, it is a helluva deal.

Pretty easy to find. To quote a local "just head west at the cow and then take a left right before the tracks and it is there on your right hand side"..LOL! Loosely translates to from 14, head west on 173, about a block down, just before the tracks, turn left and Bopps is right there.

C-S,
When you're coming north on Hy 14, Bopps is located on the street with the water tower with the cow on it and the church steeple to the right, just over the viaduct. Turn left just over the viaduct on Front St, Bopps is on the left. stop on by & I'll treat. Everybody is always welcome & X'ers are more than welcome!

Bluto, lets make another run to Harvard soon. I appreciate you running us out there a few weeks ago, I don't know the back roads up there too well, so it was nice that you led the way. Too bad we missed Bopps, but the burger at his place was great.
p.s. you don't have to clean your bike just for us. I'm like you, I'd rather spend the time riding! :D

I have to play most evenings by ear as my wife works primarily evenings and someone has to watch the girls (5 and 2). If my wife is home, I'm up for a ride anytime (that didn't sound to PC now did it! :D )
As for cleaning the bike, I got caught in a little rain on the way in this morning so I should be good for another couple of weeks! Don't tell Nick, I can fell him getting woozy just hearing that!
