It's not that N GA is the only nice place to ride, it's just a different kind of nice. You just need to embrace the riding that is convenient to you. Although, I really enjoyed the week I spent in the mountains recently, some of the most fun and relaxing rides I have had have been just taking off near home and trying roads through the country that I have never been down. A quick look at a map for some general ideas and then off ya go. I really love the long sweeping curves, the old barns on the side of the road and the smells of the country.

I live in Newnan, GA and often ride south of here in and around the Warm Springs/Pine Mountain area. That is probably a nice day of riding for you and it wouldn't be too bad just getting there. You could head NE toward Juliet, High Falls and Indian Springs, and since you would be that close, you have to eat at Buckner's. If you head SW, you could hit Plains, Americus and Andersonville. You are only a couple of hours or so from the coast.

Get off the interstate and out of the city. Take the state highways to begin with and explore the backroads and small towns which are only an hour or two from home. Who knows, you might end up finding a favorite road just out your back door.

Aggie, I've been here for over 4 years and the middle GA group has seemingly always had trouble hooking up....don't ask me why?! Even the NW GA group has had its' "moments", but at least something is finally breaking....hang in there and keep shouting out, someone will hopefully hear you! Jeff

I think the best thing that can be done is posted in another thread, Leave a card on thier windshield and let them know of vtxoa and the georgia board. I run across X's all the time with no rider on them. The cards will at least help you build up your area with riders and hopefully help get more here on the board.

I would like to go see Providence Canyon, Andersonville, Westville again.
Providence Canyon is an example of accelerated erosion. Westville has OLD houses and a cotton gin, Andersonville National cemetery was a POW
camp for Union soldiers, 25% died there. US 19 pretty much goes there.

Who rode to Hickory, NC to get a seat customized? You know anyone who expired on a long ride that I lead? Every trip I take is long, I keep getting lost. Well I just looked at my mileage in a different light, and I am a low mileage rider. My daily average is 56.77 miles for the 389 days I have had the VTX. Chuck--all my trips are short! CRS is good! Dang, talking to Jane again, there goes the solo riding! Dang! Nice aircraft museum at Warner Robbins.

What is the good place to eat in Juliette?

It is 1300 hrs and I am at the KB, the sun is shining. Houston, we have a problem. Time to ride, Jane is out!

This is what I was asking about the other night at Jeffery's. I always heard that Hans was a rider. Ya can't stop him. I'd like to ride with you someday Hans, maybe a few of us go down to Unadilla for a night.

The only reason the restaurant (Whistle Stop Cafe) is in Juliette is because people kept showing up to see where the movie was filmed and to eat at a cafe that didn't exist. The folks who owned the building decided to give the people what they wanted. Before they filmed the movie there, only 4 people lived in Juliette and all the buildings were covered in kudzu. The real diner on which the book was based is somewhere in Alabama, I think. Eat at Buckner's instead! :eat2:

Two votes for Buckners! Where is it?
What is in Unadilla? Iron Angels City! A mile off of I-75
Have to do more research, is it all bikes friendly or a
HD septic tank.

From what I have read about it, all bikes are welcome. I've been wanting to check it out.

I had two buddies that went to the Iron Angels rally, one on a Big Dog, the other on a Yamaha V* 650. Said there were all kinds of bikes. The only ones that got the look were a group of sportbikers that came through, but didnt stay.

Do they have a website? We need to check and see whats going on there, accomodations, ... Be nice for an overnighter. There are some riders down Valdosta way that would probably come up for an overnighter.

Buckner’s is a family style place in Jackson where you set at a big round table, and large bowls of food are brought to the table and are passed around. A no frills place but as you see, the food is known state wide. For those of you who know my wife Carol, her sister Barbara has been with Buckner’s about 16 or 17 years. We still order a ham from them on the holidays. It’s worth the trip, but interstate all the way. The place is right off 75. One could ride Indian Springs SP or Dosset Trials (I think) its some kind of wildlife preserve. Be out of that place before dark, more deer than people.

Thats the website I was looking for. I see that they have something every third weekend of the month. Maybe we ought to try to schedule something for one of those weekends.

Hey Aggie-

The crowd may be a little more senior than what you're used to riding with, but the Macon Chapter of the Southern Cruisers rides quite a bit. In fact we have a ride tomorrow (4 Jul) to Milner for fudge and then on to Jackson for BBQ. We'll meet at the Marathon Station (Thomaston Rd/Hwy 74 and Price Road), 2.4 Miles West of Exit #5, I-475 at 10:00 - depart at 10:15.

Check out the website - http://home.alltel.net/kjl1963/index.htm . You can login to the forum as a guest if you don't already have a delphi forums username - http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/nav/st ... crcmaconga (http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/nav/start.asp?webtag=scrcmaconga) to see what's going on.

All bikes are welcome - including Harleys! :D

Hope to see you there!!

Mike

Aggie98 I'm new to the area( Ga. and Warner Robins). I too am looking for riders in the area, especially X'ers. I moved up here to get away from new orleans and all the prolems there. I'm retired AF. I ride a orange 03 C model with quite a few mods. I'm a darksider. After two 210 metzlers in 8K miles, I went to the darkside. PM me for a meet sometime.
