Well, wife and I made it back alive.
The Cherahola is a beautiful ride. 5000ft views on both sides of the road that make it hard to ride. Some views seem to go on forever.
It was an easy ride.
One bike was down on the way into the Cherahola, some one pulled out in front of him... .. "didn't see him". His bike is OK, but he has a broken collar bone.
Then went to Robbinsville, and took a quick peak at the KSL.
The cabins, are, uh, how to put it, :o only as big as the bed itself, with the bed touching three of the walls. Maybe a foot or two on the door side. Will be fun. I'm over 6 foot, and hope I don't sleep with my feet hanging out the door... hah. They go over the foot of my bed at home, so this will be fun. Wife isn't a camper, so this should be even more fun.
Went back to 129, on 28, which they now call the Hellbender.
There are a few twisties on it, but it is mostly a steeper road with a few sweeping curves. But it is simply gorgeous riding along the river/lake.
Then hit 129, well, hit the route, not the road.
Saw at least 3 spots where someone had gone down.
And another spot where oncoming riders were waving us to slow down, and saw a customized cruiser getting righted. Not sure what it was, but it won't be the same.
I myself am doing better at it. I'll still be the last one in line, but I'm getting more comfortable, and at least hitting the curves now, without braking too much. Remember, I'm a 1 year old rider as of March this year. So I'm still taking baby steps.
Then came home on the Foothills parkway.
For those that want a beautiful ride, there isn't much that can beat Cherahola and the Foothills Parkways and the Blue RIdge Parkways. Simply breath taking.
I can't compare them to what you guys/gals are seeing at the Coloradical, but Im sure both are just as breath taking in their own ways.
Oh yeah, forgot, Saw an interesting bike at the Cherahola. I actually followed along with him and his buddy from Maryville, and met back up in Tellico Plains.
Here is a link to a pic I took of his "little" bike:

'nuff said,
Just get out and ride, :orac:

Glad you made it through that area unscathed. On a Sunday, it had to be crazy with traffic. I agree about Cherohola and Foothills parkways. They are better than the dragon on a cruiser, IMO. I haven't headed north on the BRP, yet, but that is definitely a ride I want to take. 8)

The Dragon itself was really crazy with traffic, the other routes were fairly empty. Only a bike once every minute or so.
But on the Dragon????
Well, had crotch rockets stacked up in both directions.
They wanted to go so fast all of hte time, that I saw at several left hand curves, a crotch rocket pass someone, in the oncoming lane, on one of the very tight left hand turns, and I could see another crotch rocket coming the other way, and they pass each other at the exit of the curve. Unbelievable.
I was just waiting to see two hit each other head on, all in the name of huggin the curves. I agree, its a lot of fun, but my life and body are more valuable than being a statistic.
