I have just emailed Gov. Doyle about making allowances for blue dots for bikes. I feel that with the amount of cars & trucks on the road now (many more than when the blue dots were outlawed) and the number of bikes out there that there should be an exeption to the law and allow the blue dots to be used on motorcycles. Anything we can do to make ourselves more visible on the road will improve safety. If enough people contact Gov. Doyle he may understand and change the law.

Most motorcyles have only 1 brake light, making them 50% harder to see than a car or truck. The blue dots will provide additional visability for bikers and may reduce the chance of a rear end impact.

An old fashined grass roots campaign might make a differance.

Are there any studies or other statistics that prove that "The blue dots will provide additional visability for bikers and may reduce the chance of a rear end impact. ", which can be forwarded in the contact message to the Gov.?

I havent done any searches on line for any statistics. As they are illegal in most states there is probebly not alot of information out there. Comon sense tells me that the dots make the lights brighter and change the color to a slightly purple hue that the eye can see faster. It is a proven fact that the eye see's red (distigueshes the color in the brain) the slowest. So by slightly changing the color to a differant hue must provide faster reactions. If you can locate some study or statistics that either prove or disprove the use let me know.
