Anyone taken a ride up to Neah bay? Was thinking about a ride up starting from the South and up the coast. I'd like to do it before the heavy RV season starts.

Just thinking right now. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

If timing and money work, I'd sure be interested in doing it! Even if it's just you me and knarF, there's interest! I suggest you post up a rough plan, and see what others say. Some people won't/can't commit until they know more about it.

:D I've said it befor and I'll say it again, you just can't beat riding around the "horn" for a great ride in Washington. We could meet at the Hawks Prairie Inn, they have a huge lot and the food is ok too, continue to Aberdeen then North! Lots of fun! Forks to PA, Hood canal bridge splits the groups going over the ferries or points South. Sound good? I'm definitely in! :D

Mmmmmmmmmm.... that DOES sound good. I'm a conditional go (conditional being the key word, here!). If there's going to be a Mt. St. Helens ride anywhere near the same time, though... I'm going to lean toward that. As a student, I've got extremely limited funds, and must pick and choose, quite carefully, how I spend them!
So far, it seems all who've read the idea like it! Now, to transform the idea into a solid plan!
One thought.... which one of these (Neah Bay or Mt. St. Helens) would be more spectacular in the fall???
....just a thought!

Cool of you guys to respond to this. I was looking for some input on the potential ride and that's what I got. I was hoping to make the trip before school lets out and vacations start. Roughly speaking around May 15th. Craneguy's on the money. He mentioned a good meeting spot.

I know this could conflict with the 2 day camping trip (which I'd love to go on). However, I am on-call that weekend so I will not be going. All are welcome to join in. I am a leisurely rider which means to me that I don't break my neck going anywhere. Stops along the coast would be in order with a lunch in Forks. I love the coast and the views. Never been to Neah bay so that would be another first.

Whatcha all think about that?

Al

Sundays are difficult for me Knarf. Need at least a day to recover, it's a pretty long haul. However, if anyone else wants a Sunday ride you should go for it.

Saturday is good for me as well (NASCAR is on on Sundays) If they can make it they will. I'm in for Saturday.

 Sometimes life is hard, I am riding with a group to Pt. Angeles the weekend of the 15 for and overnighter, meetings Sat. and Sunday  Oh well. I am sure the gods are punishing me for my life behavior sometime in the dark past  (mid 20's) LOL! I have done the Neah Bay around the "Horn" trip in a day. It is a long day but not unreasonable.
I am supposed to be having my 8K service done tomorrow, but this storm has trees down and hail so I am putting it off until next week. The last time I had major service we had snow, go figure.
I am getting Riches Custom Seats to do my seat on Wed. so I have a lot on the rostor. Hopefully I will be able to get in on anouther ride with you all befor my trip to Ky. in June.

does anybody know if the trail to the beach is open now?

Looks like the 15th won't work for me either. I'm very interested in riding around the peninsula this year though and I think it would make a great overnighter, rather than just racing about trying to get it all done in one day, a three day weekend would make it even better. We could ride Sat & Sun and recoup on Monday.

My wife and I horse camped through there for a week last summer (see avatar taken in Hoh rain forest) and had a great time. We ended up at Ocean Shores on the same weekend the Harley guys were there by the thousands. Got to run the horses up and down the beach and in the surf, great stuff.

There are things and places to stop and see along the way which makes it a bit of a rush to try and do in one day. Those who live on the mainland (except for Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area) would almost have to come over Friday night in any case in order to get an early Sat start.

Anyway, if you're interested, give it some thought, the tourists thin out after Labor Day and there is still lots of good weather left.

Was a good effort Al to try and get something together. I guess with everyone's busy schedules these days, might have to plan a ride a month or two in advance. Not sure what the weather forcast is for next weekend cause I'm still in socal but if it's decent, maybe we could hook up for that coffee along with some of the other local guys. I'll call your cell shortly after I get back on Thursday.

Take care

Yeah, I know. Well, I'm not a planner by nature. I tend to go when the mood strikes. You stick a day out there and who ever wants to, just goes. I've found these planned rides end up in frustration and discouragement. Yep sounds good, looking forward to talking with you.
