I want to buy a leather jacket for riding.
As some of you may or may not have seen my jacket wasnt made for riding.
I also really want to try it on and make sure it fits good. I don't mind spending a little extra to make sure I like the fit.
Do you guys have any good suggestions? High quality, reasonably priced?
Thanks

I just purchased a riding jacket at Wilsons outlet store in Huntley. They have about 6 styles, some with zip out liners some without. I think all their riding jackets were under $200.00
Check out the Wilson website for the styles to see if they are what you are looking for. They have traditional to sport, all black, black with white stripe, they even have what looks like the HD jacket (black/orange) for a 3rd of the price.
Note that the outlet store does not have ALL of the jackets listed on there website, but they have most of them.

Well it would be a bit of a ride but if you don't find anything closer, there is a great little shop on the north side of Racine, WI called McNeese leatherworks. Cheryl McNeese has been doing leatherwork for bikers for many years. She has a great selection of anything leather a biker would need and being a skilled seamstress can alter anything she sells or make a custom jacket just for you. Green Bay Rd (RT 31) just south of Northwestern Rd (Hwy 38).

I like Murph's Biker Leather in Wheaton ( www.murphsbikerleather.com (http://www.murphsbikerleather.com) ). Good quality and decent pricing. Tell Theresa I said hi. There is also Kelly's Leather in Richmond. Very good quality stuff but you pay for it. A good riding jacket might cost you $400 of more there.

I picked my jacket at a retailer and took it to Kelly's Leahter Works in Richmond, IL. for some modifications and a GREAT fit. They were great about it and the work is first rate.
If you have the coin, their orginal work is OUTSTANDING. It is a great stop on weekends, but the traffic on Northbound RT31 is brutal. You woould be better off coming across RT173 or stop there coming back from Lake Geneva.

I don't recall the name, but there is a small leather store inChiacgo on the west side of Pulaski Rd just north of 63rd st. they do alterations on site very decent prices.
I have bought a few jackets from them and have always been very happy. Also if you tell them you are with the IL VTX riders you get a discount.

Check out Pro Rider on Roosevelt Rd. in Lombard. I bought one of those old time cruiser jackets there for $220. It has underarm zip vents and a long zip vent in the front. Also a zip out thinsulate lining. I'm pretty sure the coats and zippers have a warranty as well.

Yamaha motorsports off golf in schaumburg has a huge selection of riding jackets with armor installed.
I saw a great sale there last week, had a huge rack at seriously marked down prices. Friend picked up a cruiser style with full body armor and vents for less than 200$.
Don't Forget "Kelly's" in Richmond. Even if you don't buy anything, it's a nice ride.
Kelly's is a "Biker" Landmark.
