Hey all, I am looking in to moving to the Delray Beach area and was wondering about places to live. Currently living in St. Augustine. What are some of the decent areas to live and what are some of the ones to totally avoid? I am used to the really laid back atmosphere here and kind of worried about the hectic style of down south. Are there decent places close by to get away on the bike without fighting traffic? Kind of nervous about this, haven't accepted the job yet. The money is there, a very generous offer, I am just not sure about the area.

I'd rather stay in St Augustine. 2 things - Its REALLY busy here with traffic and people, and come October, it'll be worse. Second, I hope your pay will be a whole lot higher as cost of living here is getting out of control. But, there's alot of money to make here. There's places to ride. I stay out west, away from the congestion, or A1A. Otherwise, I do ride up into the Treasure Coast area. Its more open there. And as far as house shopping, I'd stay west. Mostly, between 95 and US1 are not the best areas, its spotty with better areas, but as you go west, it gets newer. Also, going north into Jupiter and Stuart are great, but the commute may not be.
You may want to post this on the South Florida board too.
One thing about Florida. Live close to the coast as you can ( within 2 miles ) or prepare for hot as hades temps inland.

don't do it!
stay in st augustine
I live in Boynton Beach right now and it is terrible down here
construction and congestion all over the roads
house prices are throught the roof
this is my last year here and then we're headed north to Sebastian/Palm Bay area
although there is one scenario that lands us right in St Augustine

I would stay up there. I would not move any more south than Melbourne or Vero Beach....
