This weekend I experienced trhe effects of getting a 4 1/2 " nail screw head first into my rear tire. It was seated at an angle.

What happened that day.

I met up for the normal Sunday Ride

Kapolei area was first stop. I dropped off of the pack to grab a bite to eat. What was weird is I ate then grabbed something to drink then on the way back I felt that I needed to buy a tire gauge. Anyways I never bought one before but for some reason I felt like i needed to buy it.

After I bought I met up with everyone and we headed out to Kaena Point then back to Kapolei for lunch. When we pulled in to a 7 11 my gut told me to check my air pressure, so I did. When I checked I had 10 PSI. lol

So I filled up the tire then went and bought gas. Was kinda wondering how it got so low. So after I bought drink I went back and checked again. It dropped another 10 psi after I just filled. lol Was like ohh ohhh. So I started to check tire and sure enough a screw was sticking out point first, (The head was inside the tie). After filling up one more time I called Cappy. lol For some advice then went looking for a repair shop. We found one after and hour (Ewa Repair Shop) Was so lucky. A man gave me a tubeless tire patch kit. (Im a noob didnt know such a thing existed)

After we fixed I made it back home and after checking today religiously the pressure as held.

So weird that I bought air guage if I didnt I would have been screwed.

Anyways 3 things I learned.
1. Friends are awesome
2. Always carry a tubeless patch kit because everything is closed on Sunday's
3. Need saddlebags so i can carry #2 and other stuff like beer and such
:D

Luckily it didn't blow and it was only a leak. That could have been bad.

Instead of saddle bags.....
You can also buy a tool pouch for the handle bars to carry tools and patch kit.
Also the patch kit should contain C-02 cartridge for filling the tire with air.
Saddle bags are for beer and ice.

Yeppers, the plug is supposed to be doing it's job. The kit is pretty cool. I hope I don't have to use it but I'd rather error towards being prepared. I picked up a flat headed screw outside Halaewa one time, going to Dillingham field. I was able to get to the little station there and pick up two cans of flat repair. That got me to bike shop for repair. It was a sick feeling thinking about having to call a tow truck for a flat. The kit is so light and compact too. Take care.

thanks too all that posted, the nail is not a small as a finishing nail, however not a really big nail either. Best I can tell straight in the tread. I've left the nail in on purpose to see where the hole is. Tell ya what, I'm moving inn a few weeks accross town. If anyone wants/needs it pay shipping and i'ts yours. I have new tires on my bike now, just taking up space in the garage. :D Pay it forward and you can have it. :D
