We are planning a great ride through the Blue Ridge Parkway extending it through Skyline Drive to Front Royal in September. If anyone is riding the same roads maybe we could ride together. We are starting our trek in Cherokee NC on Septemeber 10th, taking 3 days to complete the 600 miles of it and returning through scenic West Virginia. Let us know if your in that neck of the woods. 8)

Thanks, we are hoping for great weather as well. We have done parts of it at different times, but now we are doing the whole thing at once. This is the best riding in the entire Eastern half of the States! I can't wait! 8)

Contact the Virginia X riders and let us know when you will be in the area. We'll show you some of the really good roads around here. Good eateries too!

I am making our reservations ahead of time. I should be nice. I know the roads are great! 8)
Wife and I did that trip on a WEEKEND last summer. From Spartanburg, we went Interstates 85/77 to Fancy Gap, then north to the end. Left on Saturday morning and got home around dusk on Sunday, and that's taking I-81/77/85 back.
We plan to do it again and take a little more time. Wonderful trip. Let me say that we met numerous deer rounding curves on Skyline Drive, and around one curve stood a bobcat, right in the middle of the road. Be careful. Lots of wildlife in that area.
You know what, my wife and I might be up for that ride in September! I'll let you know. :D

Had never been on the Blue Ridge Parkway till a couple of days ago. Rode the Carolina Portion this week. Amazed at what a wonderful road that is. Heading home from Asheville on Wed. got on the Parkway at 7:00 AM and rode 70 miles seeing only 3 bikes and 2 cars.... About 9:00 vehicles started showing up but still very few. No photos yet, still on the camera. What a special treasure that road is for all of us.

The blue ridge parkway is one road, followed by the skyline drive. There is tons of info online, but really, you must just go and ride it, then you'll KNOW what the ride is all about! 8)
