Larry's Motorsports is located on the west side of Jefferson City. Off of Hiway 50, take the Apachie Flats exit(business 50W) and they are about a mile on the left. If you get lost, anyone in the area will know where apachie flats and Larry's is located. They carry all 4 major brands; Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki. So you can check out all the available models while there! They will be open on Friday till Midnight and open Saturday at 9am. Ph # 800-736-5291 local 573-893-3209

Larry's is providing us with a facility to use on Saturday morning. Also, they will be giving any VTXOA attendee a Free shirt. Additionally, any purchase a VTXOA member makes while there will be discounted an additional 10%. Cool!

I suggest we meet around 10ish Saturday morning to visit, distribute shirts, discuss the ride route and lunch, etc. Watch the freestyle show at 11 and then start our ride to the lake. (today we put together a nice back roads route to the dam)

Confirmed attendees:

That is about all of the specifics I have as I am not involved in the Lunch details. If there is someone that is willing to volunteer to take a few photos, that would be cool. If there are other questions or details we need to discuss, post away.

Thanx and C'ya there,
Mark

Learned some new info this morning. For any that may be traveling East on 50 towards Jefferson City...There is no Apachie Flats exit! If you take the St. Martins exit (first exit after hwy turns to 4 lane) cross back over the hiway. Go to stop sign(bus 50W), turn right - Larrys is about a mile on the right.

For any that may go by Larry's Friday evening, they are open till Midnite, to recieve your 10% discount, just let them know that you are the proud owner of a VTX and a member of VTXOA and they will hook ya up.

Travis is the General Manager and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. If you happen to bump into him, please say thanx for supporting us. FYI...He rides a tricked out Warrior. It is a dark maroon and will probably be parked just to the right of the door. Although it is a sharp and clean looking ride, Tell him it looks like crap!

Mark

Our ride will take us from Larry's to C hiway, over to 87S to Eldon, then on 54 to the Bagnell dam exit. Once you cross the dam, follow signs to the legion. I believe it is to the left. We will regroup there and ride to Bandana's for lunch. Knowing how time can sometimes get away at these events and for ease of directions, I thought a brief caravan down 54 for a few miles to the dam exit would be more appropriate. For those that are planning on joining us at the lake, with the Larry's Freestyle event at 11, I'm guessing we should arrive at the legion around 12:30 or after.

After lunch, if you prefer, there are many back roads around the lake and in the area to discover. Myself and better half will be heading back to Larry's and Columbia. I will have just gotten back late on Friday from a 6 day ride to the dragon and the smokies. I imagine my butt is going to be a little sore and know the bike will be filthy.

Its 5:55am and time to go slay the dragon. I will probably not have access to a computer till we get back late Friday. Should anything develop, I will have my cell phone with me. 573-489-1189.

Thanks for the kind words. I was riding highway 90 in south west Mo. and hit some gravel in a curve running around 60 mph. Long story short I have some road rash with a munch of sore body parts, and the bike has about $5000.00 worth of repair needed.
I was not wearing a jacket ( too hot), but will deffently rethink that the next time I ride.

I have been riding in full leather and surviving in near 100 degree heat, but there is a trick to my leather.

I have fully perforated leather jacket, pants and gloves. The air goes right through. Most days the pants feel like shorts. I only wear underwear under the pants and a t-shirt under the jacket.

Cortech/Tourmaster makes these pants and Jackets. They come with full armor and the jacket has a liner for when it gets cooler outside. They are also very competitively priced.

Good luck and I'll pray for your quick recovery!

Nice ride. We need to do that more often.

On the way back, we ran hwy 54 to 94 to 47 to 100 to I-44. Stopped off in Rhineland for a bit and then at Patke's dairy in Washington for some ice cream.

Ahhhhh - life is good!

Remind me to bring a bigger bike next time.

I'm grateful for everyone who was able to make the meet. The people who put this together are Mark(glory_racing) and Chillywill and Travis of Larry's. They all did a great job. Thanks.

I would like to do this again next year, only make it a week-end event. There are a number of things to do in that area and no one would get bored. Maybe a swap-meet and bike show (any make), entertainment of various types, etc. Maybe Larry's would like to help out with this. I will talk to Travis and Mark to see what can be done.

Great meeting all of you.

I could go for a weekend at the lake! Had loads of fun and got a great deal on a back tire. Thanks to all who helped put this together for the X community! Special thanks to the Larry's team for doing the tire as quickly as they were able. It was almost to fast I didn't have much layover.

Hope everyone had a good time, put some faces with names and made a possible new riding partner. I know I enjoyed it. And for those keeping count, I only had 4 donuts! It was cool to see that many X's together. However, now I have convinced myself that I have to purchase a new exhaust system!

On the way back home, we stopped by Larry's and Travis was pleased with the turnout. We had 30 signed in. I already planted the seed for next years event and again he offered to assist us. This is the first time I have done this so I learned several things that we can do next year to make it an even better event.

Just a thought, there is no reason we have to wait a year for another informal ride. I am always looking for an excuse to ride, especially when the weather cools a bit.

Thanx and ride safe,
Mark

Hey, I just want to echo the thanks from everyone else.
I really appreciate all the effort that went in to setting everything up.
Great ride, impressive bikes, good company, and excellent chow.
We went out 50 and back 94. The 2 lane seemed 10 degrees cooler.

I'd like to go again this fall.

I also realized, I have one of the few stock pipes still out there.
I just like that quiet ride.
I wouldn't mind a little rumble, which pipes just add a little noise?

Thanks again.

Enjoyed meetting with everyone. Lets do it again soon. Austin from Bandana's wanted me to thank everyone for there business. As you may have found out there is alot of beautifull country to see around the lake. There is some interesting sites that don't get visited around the lake. One is the swinging bridges. Which would make a great picture with 50 motorcycles on it. Still used. but not often. I think we could block it off for about a half hour. Like I said above lets plan a new ride soon. The fall would be great. Will

Cathy said that everything was great other than the heat, so perhaps a cooler time of the year would be better for everyone.

Enjoyed the short time I was there, I would like to meet more of you again since I didn't get to talk to many. I'm not even sure I met Mark? I'm terrible with names so I'm sure you will all have to tell me your names again.
