Six of us are leaving Friday from Minneapolis and riding to the Denver area. From denver we want to go up to Yellowstone. Can anyone offer suggestions on a scenic route to take. I know it is short notice but i was not the one planning this trip, just do the last minute helpout.
Thanks

One very pretty route and probably the fastest is to take I-25 North to Casper and then take US-20 West to Shosoni (where they are known for their shakes and malts - worth the stop, especially on a hot day).

From Shosoni, turn North to Thermopolis and then continue on to Cody. This will take you through the Wind River Canyon, a beautiful ride and fun if there aren't too many cagers.

Slower and longer would be to stay on I-25 to Sheridan and take US-14 over the mountains to Cody. A beautiful ride.

Slower and longer still would be to stay on I-25 to Buffalo, south of Sheridan, and take US-16 over the mountains. Another beautriful ride.

I'd take the first one, especially if you've never been through here. It's not the prettiest, but it is beautiful and it's the fastest. From Cody you have to head west to get to Yellowstone, but that's a beautiful ride too and make sure to take time to go south out of Yellowstone. The Grand Tetons are spectacular.

Just remember, until you get into the mountains, Wyoming isn't the prettiest thing out there, but we make up for that with far fewer cagers than anywhere else - except on I-80. Which brings up some alternatives. You can take I-80 west from Cheyenne and either US-191 north to Jackson and on up to Yellowstone or take US-287 North and either cut back to Shoshoni or continue on US-26 to Jackson. But I don't find those as pleasant.

Blessed are the flexible,
for they shall not be bent out of shape!

P.S. If you have time, there's some beautiful riding in Northern Colorado and even Southern Wyoming.
