View Full Version : chance to support a fellow rider in a possible business
heres the deal, ive been cooking BBQ for several years for freinds in my b-yard. usually its for 30-40 people and sometimes more. my wife just got out of the bartending business but the bar owner where she worked has offered to give me the venue to sell my food.
so heres the question i pose who would like to show up and spend a few dollars to get some good Q? the menu for the first time will be: shredded pork sandwiches, beans, and slaw for 7$ or 2 sandwiches and the sides for 10$. the owner does ride and has no problems with filling the lot with bikes, just leave the attitudes at home.
i will have food till its gone and im thinking of having enough for 90 servings. this can be turned into a ride before hand then to the bar for food and stories afterwards. if its succesfull then who knows where this will go, it would be nice to meet everyone share some stories of the road and some good food.

Hey Jason, I love BBQ everything. Where would this be at if you do it?
Ron
hey ron, where have you been buddy? missed you at geez's this year.
the bar is in portland. the name of the place is Coaster's, and its on powell and 60th right next to seven-dees. so far the date is set for aug 26th the food should be ready by 4pm but that time can change depending on the meat.

Ah, Jason, we would do it, we *would* -- I promse, but we already have that weekend planned and money paid.
Damm, 'cause we both would love it. A chance to see you again and to meet these mysterious guys called OregonXers... who live on the very wetside.
Jason, should you change the weekend, re-post, eh?
And please, "hello" to Gary!

Jason, sounds like a great idea. I'll put it on the "family schedule" & if the rest of the family doesn't vote for something else, the wife & I will try to make the ride in from Wilsonville...

Well Jason I would of loved going to Geez's but the bike is down due to no rubber to run on. I'm broke right now so the tires have to wait, but I'll try and make the BBQ even if I have to drive a car. Maybe it will seem better if I wear my helmet will driving. Hope the BBQ is a winner.

so here is a update. unfortunatley the 8/26 is a no go. the guy is a avid golfer and playing in a tournament that w-end. i jumped the gun in announcing it. i dropped my food handlers card off yesterday and got the bad news. on the upside we are looking at a september date, on a w-end with good weather. as i expect the meat needs to have 12 hours of smoking time.
another idea is to just have a Q here at my place which is less than 5 minutes from the business if enough people will show. i will just make it a meet and greet type of thing and a free preview of the real deal, maybe turn it into a tech day or something. it would just be cool to have everybody gather in one place after a ride then swap stories and what not. if this is still an interest let me know so i can preppare for it. otherwise when i get the date for the bar i will post it. thanks for the support guys

I am always up for food!!( if you seen me you'd understand). Just say when and where and I'm there, If of course I'm not working. Noon time is best for me as I work at 5pm on the weekends.

I can't wait! I live about 2 blocks from Coasters, and I love BBQ. I had dinner there tonight, and I almost never miss steak Wednesday. If you see a black 2006 retro parked out front, that's me.
sorry guys its not gonna happen this year. the owner is busy for the rest of the summer. and to cover his liability i have to get a business license and insurance of my own.
however what i can do if enough people are interested is have a tech day at my house. BBQ will be free and you bring a side or whatever you want to drink for the afternoon. i have a driveway that will fit about 15-20 bikes behind a gated and fenced yard.
johnjudy i have seen your bike and have asked if that was your X out in the lot. so lets get together for a ride soon. i will stop in on wednesday and see if your around and then we can make some plans for a ride or something. i live just up the street on 65th about 3 houses north of center on the east side of the street. im usually home by 6pm or so. stop by and we can ride. just gun the throttle a little and i will come out of the house as i have dogs.
