Honestly who wares their helmet? If so when and were & what kind do you ware at what times.( spring ,summer, fall) I own a half helmet and I just bought a full faced one. Is it just me or does the full faced helmet make you feel indstructable or more confident to try somthing dumb, that you wouldn't do with a half helmet or none at all none the less we must still all be very carefull, it is still car vs bike and we all know who wins that one right.

My wife says to me, "How many helmets do you need?"

I have 4. I have a full face for riding under 45 degrees only. I have an open face (3/4) , I have 2 skid lids (one turtle and one beanie) for warm weather.

I used to go without more than with. The only fall I've had happened without. But it showed me how quick it can happen. I now ride 99% of the time WITH.

I have three. Full for cold weather and if I'm going to be on an expressway(usually on long trips). That's an Arai. 3/4 Simpson I just ordered for warmer temps and to replace the 1/2. I just never liked the way the 1/2 wants to pull my head off at speeds. I really like the way the Simpson looks, like the old NASCAR helmets.

100% time, regardless of the laws, old MXer, seen/done too many crashes, still got too many scars from NOT wearing a full face. Use Shoei RF900 75-80% of the time, when summer gets REALLY hot, Shoei RJ-Air 3/4. My head, my family, my life is worth a good helmet. Just my $.02

Arai 3/4 Classic M, and NexL Sports beanie. Lately I've been wearing my NexL so much I think I should have gone with a full face for cold weather instead of the 3/4. Snapping on a full visor on the 3/4 is a PITA and one time the middle snap came loose while riding and put a small gouge in the $284 Arai. :x

Just like my Library Card, "I don't leave home without it" :D

I have an Arai RX7 custom painted and a Shoei TZ-1. I had to buy two, one for riding, one for polishing

Bah, your welcome here.

With a full face on I do feel a bit more indestructable while riding my CBR. Probably not a good thing.

Have yet to wear it on my VTX. But I'm looking to get a lid or 3/4 for the VTX.

I almost always wear a helmet, in part because that was the deal I made with my wife when I got the bike and in part because it is stupid not to. I have a half helmet which I wear most of the time. When its cold I have a full-face flip up helmet (summit). I like the flip up because it gives you some flexability and I was able to get it in blurple to match my ride.

I wear a NexL Carabon fiber shorty. Wear it 100%. I always want to keep my head together. I just don't feel right with out one on. I just put a bandana over my face when it's cold or on the expressway.

Woot!

Almost always wear one of my 3 helmets. Just bought a full face Symax for cold weather, open face for most other riding and finally my Corinthian helmet (see avatar).

Teggy,
Next time you hunt pheasants, try a shotgun, much better than a helmet!
I ride out by Elburn, quite often, e-mail me if you are looking for a ride.

I like to tell "outsiders" that I always wear one of my helmets (3/4 HJC, full face Shoei), but group rides and pier preasure... sometimes I go without.

Bought my kid an HJC SyMax flip-up full face and took him to a MSF course last weekend. I guess I now need to practice what I preach... set the right example.

Besides, the fatality rate is up again this year. I want to live long and ride my a$$ off. :P

Wear a full face flip up shield 99.5% of the time, have a 3/4 from days gone bye and haven't worn it yet. The best thing about a full face for me is no watery eyes, June bugs or road debris in the face. Been there and done that a long time ago and don't choose to deal with it. Also, one never knows who will pull up next to you and want to see what the X will do. I like to blast them wait till they catch up and then flip my visor. Makes 'em feel worse than ever to have an old gray haired guy show them the way home.

The only thing I don't like about the full hat is the buffeting I experience on the other side of 80. Can't bring myself to put a windshield on yet but who knows what the future may bring.

Ride safe,

It was a good thing I was wearing mine this weekend. I layed the bike down. :( :( :( Slid for about 20 feet HEAD FIRST in the grass.

Riding with some people on BMW's and the 90 deg turn on a back road came up faster than I could downshift. Tried to take her into the grass for some room (bad move) to slow more since I knew I was not going to make the corner at that point, Grass was wet and down she went. No injuries but there ware some good marks on the lid. I was last in line and thinking back on it I don't remember seeing brake lights on the Rockets in front of me at the turn. This must have played into my thinking that the turn was not as sharp.

Stu, glad to hear that you were able to get up and ride home. I'm making a note to stay with the helmet this season.

Hope you get Isabela patched up soon.

I have been reading a lot about bike accidents hear on this forum and it has gotten me to think twice about rideing with out my helmet. So you guys out there visiting the local bike dealers keep an eye out for me on a Shoie (large)St-Cruz helmet. I can't find one here on the south side of chicago to try on. :D

Thanks for the well wishes. Geico came out the next day to look at the bike and cut a check on the spot. (Too small, of course). Can't complain about the response.

She is now in the shop. I should hear today or tomorrow about how long until she is back out on the road. THere are some things I was going to replace anyway so, now's the time.

I spent 17 years working in hospitals ans saw too many brains come in without a body attached. Moral is I would rather lose a limb than my life. Lost a good friend in H.S. to a head injury on a bike he got for graduation, he wrecked during his party. So full Face Arai all the time. Just like the car, no belt no ride----No helmet no ride!!

Looking cool and tough is not worth dying for---then how would I enjoy my 04 1800 x retro?

Just mt 2 cents as a new X owner. Ride safe or stay home!!!!! :)

I've got a half helmet and a full face. I never wear the half one anymore (if i'm going to wear one it's going to be a good one) and only wear the full in bad weather or on long trips. Seems my helmets get more use from my passangers though.

My full is going to get replaced soon, it took a nasty spill off the bike in Lewiston Idaho... without me that is. It wasn't secured to the sissy bar and i took a big pot hole. Just so happens this was just before the 100th harley deal and the helmet flew off just as we were passing about 80 harleys. I can still hear them yelling "IT"S SUPPOSED TO BE ON YOUR HEAD!"... grrr.

I don't try to push this philosophy on others and I never give anyone any grief for wearing one. This is just my choice.
