What are you guys running on? I always get the best results with BP fuels. The shell, caltex and mobile is used up way too fast. Have also been using the ethanol blend in the hilux trayback but would not use it on the bike.
Heard of trouble with the Optimax with bikes....as I said I'm happy with BP fuels.

I usually use Caltex Regular Unleaded - every now & then I will fill up on Premium Unleaded, but don't think it is worth the extra cost.
Check out this post here (http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=152302&highlight=fuel+premium+octane) about what the guys in the US use. The manual recommends the following...
type - unleaded
pump octane number - 86 or higher
but a lot of the guys are saying they think the bike runs better when using 92.
Just remember that our Regular Unleaded has a RON of 91.

G'day Black 2002
I heard that optimax contained an ethanol blend within it. I think shell have an article on their web site re using optimax in bikes.......requires re tuning or similar bull.

don`t use optimax , BLACK-2002 is spot on , it WILL foul your plugs. I have friends with different bikes having the same trouble, I was even warned by the salesman not to use optimax as a lot of bikes were being brought back with fouled plugs.

From the Shell WWW:
Shell Optimax Extreme
The power of 100 octane
With the natural quality of ethanol
Shell Optimax Extreme is a new super-high octane fuel with a minimum octane rating of 100, the highest currently available at any Australian service station. Shell Optimax Extreme is formulated with 5% ethanol.
Shell Optimax Extreme is formulated to deliver more engine responsiveness, sharper acceleration and enhanced power in many modern and high performance vehicles compared to other Shell premium fuels.

No arguement from me Mick, I don't believe the government or what a company ad is blurbing on with.
Just pointing out the ethanol content of fuel. I noticed in the servo it had a sign saying staff are to check the water level/content of their ethanol blends every 4 hrs, man that's scarey.
I know from my own home brewing experiences, the water content is a problem and it needs to be dried prior to using it as fuel.
I don't use ethanol blends in my bike at all, the hilux I do, more as a cleaning agent, plus it never stays long enough in the tank to be a long term concern.
The other reason not to believe all you here.............asbestos was safe once!!! :) :)

we had some economists come into work a few weeks ago, 2 fairly senior guys from the NAB. basically their explanation for money costs/interest rate fluctuations hinges on oil prices  . if oil gets cheaper theoretically there should be a corresponding drop in interest rates though I'm not sure how long it takes to flow through  . no pun intended re the use of the word flow - y'know, oil, flow... I know, it wasn't that good.
