Guys..your thoughts on the standard tools supplied?? Look a bit crappy. What tools are essential for the road and what tools outside of standard are needed for the tool box at home. I do all my own work on my Hilux so have a pretty good range of sidchrome stuff.

( I have a ride on mower ...... teach and fix yourself or become poor, even learn to modify/rebuid/build my own parts for the bloody thing......never complain about bike servicing/repairs or costs until you own a ride on mower :) :) :) )

In the more than 55,000kms I've done on my X, the only time I required tools on the road was when I blew an indicator globe and had to remove the cover to replace it - what you've got is fine. Remember, it aint a HD.

For home, all you really need is a full set of metric allen keys, metric sockets and, and if you want to adjust your valve clearances, a 17mm socket for the crankshaft bolt and one of these (http://www.ronayers.com/catalogs/pu/parts.cfm?topsecid=3&subsecid=28&secid=105&type=594) tappet adjuster sets. If you do plan to adjust your valve clearances you are more than welcome to borrow mine - it's not like you're gonna use it heaps.

I would also get hold of a set of hex head bits that you can use with a ratchet driver specifically for brake pad removal. I rounded the socket on the retaining pin of my front brake caliper because I tried to use an allen key. I was lucky in that I was able to hammer a Torx bit into the end of the pin and remove it - had to replace it though!! Much better to use one of the bits and a ratchet to remove any socket head bolts that are very tight as they enable you to apply pressure down into the socket as well as unscrew the bolt.

Last thing - get hold of a bike lift if you can afford one - I have a mate who has got one and they make life a lot easier when working low down on your bike.
