That seems awfully, awfully high.
Granted, I am in a small rural town and have excellent driving record, but I'm paying $450/yr for full coverage on a financed 03 1800. And lots of folks tell me I'm paying a lot more than they are.

I just re did mine and went thru Geico. $280 a year with towing and 500 deducts. it seems there lowering the rates a bit. It will probably be higher with an 1800 though. They go by CCs

Sorry for the length...
The last two weeks I have been shopping for insurance. The only way I can get the 400 to 500 buck range is to get nothing, well almost nothing, in coverage.

Geico will only insure the accessories up to 1/3 of the value of the bike and they don’t offer replacement value either. Just “blue book”.

Markel will not give me a quote with out having the bike taken to a dealer and have them complete a form listing the accessories and costs and take 4 pics, one from each side of the bike. This is due to all the accessories I guess. Then they will send the paperwork to the underwriters to see if they will insure it.

Farmers… can’t get anyone to answer from the national website. All they do is refer you to local offices in the area. I send emails with all the info and all I get from the local offices are emails telling about insurance in general, homeowners, auto… etc. Basically spam. Requested x 3 to each of 4 local offices.

The others that I have contacted will only cover $1000 or up to $3000 in accessories. I didn’t list them here or even answer their quotes, as I want real coverage.

The only one I have found that will cover all the accessories is Progressive and, have coarse, the most expensive.

I consider the following coverage’s minimal…
Bodily Injury, Property Damage and Guest Passenger Coverage $50,000 person/$100,000 accident/$25,000 property damage
Underinsured Motorists Coverage $50,000 person/$100,000 accident Underinsured Motorists Property Damage Coverage $25,000 property ($100 Deductible / $300 Deductible for Hit & Run)
Comprehensive Coverage $250 Deductible (or $500)
Collision Coverage $250 Deductible (or $500)
Custom Parts and Equipment Coverage Full Replacement (not the bike, just the accessories)
Roadside Assistance Coverage (similar to AAA, and usually only a few dollars)
Medical (this the one that pays no matter who is at fault and is really just to cover the deductibles on your own health insurance for the driver, usually $1000, 2500, or $5000, the passenger, not the driver, is covered as listed above (most insurance is this way, including Progressive).

I am 50, have been riding and licensed since ’75 or ‘76 ish, no tickets in the last 7-8 years, and no accidents for 20+ years. Paid cash for the bike so not financed. But I can’t find a “great” price. And the only good coverage is from Progressive for $$$.

Geico was $600 but only $3500 in accessories only bare/minimal coverage (not as listed above).
Progressive was $1200 with all of the above coverage’s and 1 discount for belonging to Honda club. (If I owned a house I would get a $300 deduction, they stated there were no other discounts available.) These are not good prices.

So people, what coverage’s do you all have with these great prices?

Thanx,
Gary
