Being that it was a great day for a ride, I headed for Ithaca today. As I was heading south on 89 towards Ithica I came across a fellow biker who was frantically attempting to wave down traffic. He had hit a dear about 30 minutes before. He told me that he had been trying to get someone to stop since the accident to call for assistance since he didn't have a cell phone. He also told me that about a dozen bikers and even more cars just drove by without even giving him a second look. That's pathetic!! I wonder how those people (and I use that term loosely) would feel if it were them that needed assistance and they were totally ignored. Luckily he was for the most part okey. His left leg and tank took the bundt of the impact and he didn't crash the bike. The only problem with the bike was that it wouldn't start. I called the police and waited with him until assistance arrived at which time he thanked me, told me he was fine (just shaken up) and insisted that I continue my ride. All told I spent about 1 1/2 hours with him which was not a very big sacrifice. Thanks for letting me have a mini rant.

Good for you SDG, I am sure he appreciated your company. I am glad he wasn't hurt badly.

Hard to belive that many people ignored him before a good guy came along, especially bikers that didn't stop. Thanks for being one of the good guys riding a X. See ya Oct. 1st.

Well, unfortunatly that's the way people are these day's. What I can't belive is that there were fellow bikers out there that didn't stop. These men and women should be ashamed of them selfs for not helping a fellow biker out. I am glad youwere there Sum Dumb guy! You were not dumb, and you wee some guy that Helped!! Atta Boy! Glad to hear the guy was alright, you get his name? His Addy, we all should get a hold of him and see how he is doing. Good Job Jim!

Well, you're not going to believe this, but it was a mighty fine day for the VTX reputation.
I ALSO was out riding yesterday . . . yep, UP 89. I ran across the same guy. JIM, it was a yellow Harley right? The deer hit him in the side and his bike wouldn't start and he had a dent in his tank.
And yes, as I was passing THEY waved frantically to get me to stop. By this time, they had a couple other guys there with a trailer. They told me the same thing, nobody would stop for them.
The bike was lined up to get on the trailer but none of those guys had any mass to move it onto the trailer. The owner was a whisper of a guy, probably 140 pounds. He says, well you're lot bigger than me but this bike weighs 750 pounds. I said, yeah, mine too! With that said, I grabbed the rail and yanked his bike onto the trailer while they strapped it down.
With the bike on the trailer, I gave my mighty Al Borlan three finger salute and said you boys be good! With a twist and a hearty V&H blast, the VTX warrior disappeared in the distance. 8)
BTW Jim, next time you get a wild hair and ride to Ithaca, give me a shout. Seems we had the same idea . . . get a couple sunny miles in.

Hi Russ,
That was the guy! Must have missed you by a couple of minutes. If they had needed help getting it on the trailer, they should have asked. I would have been more than happy to help.
"BTW Jim, next time you get a wild hair and ride to Ithaca, give me a shout"
The ride to Ithaca was a last minute decision. While on route I thought about getting a hold of you guys, but had no way to do it while on the road (ie, no phone numbers).

Jim,
I don't know about your experience, but these guys seemed a little put off by the fact that both bikers who stopped were riding Hondas. They didn't know JUST how to take it.
I'm also surprised that I didn't see you riding down the lake when I was riding up. Just weird I guess.
I cut my ride a little short because of the amount of radar everywhere. Did you notice? I normally like to ride that road about 65-70 . . . but not yesterday! :x

I have noticed that since Bucky has been put away that there are a million of Men In Blue, out to prove that they are back working their local areas again.

'I cut my ride a little short because of the amount of radar everywhere. Did you notice?"
There was more radar out yesterday than I've seen in a long time. Had one following me for about 10 miles at one point. A little nerve racking trying to keep speed under control so as not to give him a reason to pull me over.
