Love this state tho, great place to ride . More people in My area are newbies from other states tho as the Eastern Panhandle is booming ! I agree. We have a great state to ride in.
There is going to be a benefit ride in Kanawha County for a deputy that was injured in a motorcycle crash. Here are the details if anyone is interested:
Lt. Dan Clarkson, a 20 year member of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office was injured in a single vehicle motorcycle crash on April 30, 2006. Dan is extremely dedicated to his job, and to the citizens of Kanawha County. Dan has never been someone to turn down any charitable event. He was a Team Leader for a three mile walk for the March of Dimes the day of his accident.
The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office is organizing a motorcycle "RIDE FOR A REASON" around Kanawha County. The "REASON" is to show our support for Lt. Dan Clarkson. He was released from the hospital on July 30, 2006 but his progress has been slow. We welcome everyone that would like to participate. Come down to the Courthouse and enjoy hot food, cold drinks, good music, and the opportunity to let Dan know that we appreciate his dedication to the public for the last 20 years. It is our turn to GIVE BACK.
WHAT: MOTORCYCLE RUN AROUND KANAWHA COUNTY
WHEN: SEPTEMBER 30, 2006 - 1ST BIKES OUT 10 AM - LAST BIKES 11 AM
WHERE: START AT THE KANAWHA COUNTY COURTHOUSE TO ST. ALBANS, TO CROSS LANES, TO SISSONVILLE, TO ELKVIEW, TO CHELYAN, AND PARADE BACK TO THE KANAWHA COUNTY COURTHOUSE.
COST: $15.00 PER PERSON - INCLUDES SHIRTS FOR THE FIRST 200. HANDOUTS AT THE DETACHMENTS, FOODS, ENTERTAINMENT, AND MANY DOOR PRIZES.
Any questions about particpating or making donations:
Contact Harry Capenter at 419-5001.

Great! We'll have to hook up and talk bikes. I see you are from Huntington. My band plays down there quite a bit. In fact, we are playing on the Marshall campus this Saturday. Let's hope it doesn't rain on the 30th and maybe warm up a few degrees!

Drummer... We will definitly have to hook up. I also have been playing music since middle 70's. I would love to hear your band. Where on campus are you playing? If you play in Huntington in the future give me a shout so I can come check out the band. 8)

Man, you guys are making me home sick.....I grew up in South Charleston (any one remember Armor Park?) and then moved up to the Ft Hill / South Hills area and try to get back every year to visit my dear ol' Momma....you're right, ridin' there is great...I used to really wring out some old Triumphs and early Hondas...I live on the gulf coast of Florida now and yes, the weather is great but ridin' in a straight line all the time just don't get it!! Fill me in on some rides and take some pictures, doggone it!!

Hey Analog Kid,
I sent you a PM about the ride Saturday. Let me know if you want to meet us.
Hey wydeopenspaces,
I barely remember Armor Park. I grew up in the area (1st and 3rd Avenues). My dad worked at the Ordnance Center. Let me know when you come back to town and we'll go for a ride.

Yup, my dad worked there too...I had several friends who lived over im your area, but that might have been a while before your time, I lived there when I was in grade school and junior high (Kyle Elementary??) Man thats been a while back...do you recall when the chlorine plant blew up? I have a lot of fond memories of that place (the plant explosion wasn't one of them!!) I still stay in contact with a number of people I grew up with, unfortunately that trip is about 900 miles from here, so with wife and kids...no motorcycle trip up there for me   Yet.....

Yeah, I remember Kyle Elementary. It was about the only school my school (Edison) could beat in basketball...lol. I guess you know Kyle is now the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.
I remember the chlorine plant explosion as well. My dad went to work there after leaving the ordnance center. Fortunately, he wasn't there that day!

No, we didn't go. It was raining here when I went to bed Fri. night at about 4am (well, i guess that would be Sat. morning...lol). Anyway, it suprised me because I didn't think it was supposed to rain. I got up at 8:00 and it was pouring, so I called my buddies and we punted. I don't know if they still had the ride or not. I'll find out Monday.
Yeah, Bridge day is coming up. Have you ever rode underneath the bridge? Thats a good ride. I hope I can make it (and it doesn't rain :-)).

Drummer, I’ve been over the bridge several times through out the years but have never rode under it... Yes I will definitely go unless it is rainy. I have a few other guys from this area and Portsmouth. OH wanting to ride along also. Maybe we can meet up with you in Charleston and ride on up. 8)
