Working my bottom off. We had a double boating fatality a few weeks ago just after the close of turkey season. Thought things would slow down a little , but so far it hasn't. Talk to ya'll later....

Not positive, but I thought I heard that the bill did not pass on the news tonight. Think we're still good to go helmetless if you choose to. I'll check tomorrow's paper. :pepper1: :a13:

A co-worker informed me recently that out of the 30 or so fatalitities that occurred in the N.O. area recently, almost half of them involved riders of the crotch rocket, sport bikes, and many wore helmets. Not one cruiser bike was among them. FYI

David Tyree on WWL Radio discussed this today. You shoulda heard all the BS from folks calling in saying "If you are stupid enough to ride a motorcycle......" yada, yada, yada. Most callers had never ridden a bike. Gotta hand it to Tyree. He handled the discussion most fairly.

Agreed, I listened for a bit myself when I was running some work-errands.

All:
Seems like the Senate left the $10,000 insurance exception in SB 29. Can't quite tell, but you can read for yourself at:
http://www.legis.state.la.us/bills/byin ... illid=SB29 (http://www.legis.state.la.us/bills/byinst.asp?sessionid=04RS&billid=SB29)
I hope so.

Unfortunately, House Bill 109 removes the insurance exception. Who knows what will happen today. When the legislature is in session no person or his property is safe.
Read it at: http://www.legis.state.la.us/leg_docs/0 ... 00LGU6.PDF (http://www.legis.state.la.us/leg_docs/04RS/CVT2/OUT/0000LGU6.PDF)

Article in Tuesday morning Times-Pic states that only those under 21 y/o will be required to wear. Insurance remains a factor for those over 21 and adds a training requirement for new license. Riders currently licensed would not be required to take training course.
After reading HB 109, I would say you are right. Hopefully SB29 will survive without HB 109 being included as a lesser of 2 evils.

All,
Talked to Ed Anderson (T-P Reporter in B.R.) a few minutes ago. He said HB 109 is going to the Senate and SB 29 is going to the House, and he can't figure out what's going to happen either.
Lets all pray.

Too hot to wear a helmet, ground too hard not to. I usually wear one but you can be sure I won't when I can until this law is in stone. Felt like an oven riding home today.
It is hot as hell out there. Just got in from riding. The dog took one wiff of me and ran under the bed! Pool Time!!!!!

This is so ludicrous. I can see the safety course, maybe, but the funny thing is that Larry Oarso, the gentleman in charge of the MSF here, cannot keep up with just the people that want to take the course. How is he going to accomplish this now. I was also told, and I haven't read the bills as of yet, that ALL will have to have the MSF to get, or renew an MC endorsement.
Why don't they spend more time trying to keep, and bring business into the state rather than running them off. I am so sick of people trying to protect me from me. Why haven't they stiffened the laws involving Cages at fault with MC's...

Well not much we can do about it. Going to have to find the lightest, non restrictive helmet out there. Any suggestions? Put me down for a couple of those patches. That Bi*ch!
I bet Foster would take a few of those decals! It will be interesting to see which type of helmet he chooses. You know the paper will be waiting to take that picture.

I'll take two Fu&k that beeeatch stickers as well. It is so fustrating. You know 90% of the people who ride DON'T want this law. Yet the people who don't even freaking own a bike tell us what we can and can't do. It feels like there is nothing we can do about it. VERY fustrating
