Only 8 weeks until my scheduled departure. Current plan is leave really early on July 30th and spend the night in Grand Island, NB. Another morning departure (not too early this time) and roll into LaQuinta in the early afternoon hours. Enjoy the hospitality and wonderful scenery for the few days. I plan on wandering home through Wyoming, South Dakota (probably spend one night in Sturgis), Minnesota and Wisconsin to get home. Who else in the area is going?

Can't make it this year, so have fun without me. By the way, the hotels at Grand Island NB are a fair ways from the interstate exit. Kind of annoying after pounding down a lot of miles already. Nice selection once there, and lots of eateries.

Woot!

Wow, I'd love to, but my bike trip this year is to the Hoot again (in June).

Working for the man doesn't leave me with many more vacation days to do anything else without eliminating family time (four day round trip to Texas where family is - it's a killer).

David, I hear oyu on the family thing. My family is in Ottawa Canada and travelling with a 5 and 2 year old make it seem like 4 days each way! LOL! This year, due to my current work visa status, Uncle Sam says I am not allowed to leave the country until my final processing is done. So this year, if the rest of the family wants to see us, they have to come to us! LOL! I kinda like it this way better. Maybe I can stay in this status for a few years.......56 days and counting for me!

I had heard that hey were a piece off the superslab. Grand Island is not necessarily where we will stay. I want to get at least that far. If we leave Chicagoland at 5am and ride until dusk, we'll see where we are and how our butts feel and decide then. Last long ride we went on, we ended up putting almost 800 before we stopped for the night. It all depends on our moods. My wife is a great passenger and other than the "I gotta pee" comments, she doesn't complain.
