MS X Riders:
This is a post I made on the AL board in an effort to get some activity & thought on the subject of a different approach to organizing. I would think you guys have the same problems we do in that your riders are so spread out. Just take a look at the post and give me some feedback Thanks.

I realize that our state is rather tall North to South, and that the members are spread out all over. This makes for problems getting everyone together for rides, meetings and such. Since Crab has his plate full and resigned a few months ago, things are kind of floundering. It has been tough getting the AL deal going and maybe it's time to re-think the organization of the chapters. I mean I hope I am not the only one down this way that would like to get together every now and then with fellow X'ers to shoot the breeze, share tech help & mods, and especially ride!

It is not practical for me to coordinate rides, etc. in the North part of the state, so I am hoping someone from up that way will take the ball and run with it. Alabama unlike some of the other states, say for instance Colorado, does not have large enough metro areas (at least down south) to allow a large enough group to get going.

Maybe it is time we rethink the state-to-state deal, at least down here, and try to form riding groups based on location. For instance, down south, we could grab riders from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to say Fort Walton Beach/Destin, FL. Rides/gatherings could alternate from starting points along the coast, etc. "Gulf Coast X Riders"...sounds nice!

I will post this on the MS board, and the General Board for input. I don't see a chapter listed in NW FL, so maybe this could work. Please respond with your comments.

Gulf Coast X riders is a great idea. We are in the perfect location. Right between to big bike areas. Florida and New Orleans. I haven't ridden to FL yet. I always head to New orleans. But the women are beautiful towards the East... So you know how that goes :)

Hay Smooth-X how about killing the other two “Gulf Coast Rides” sites it is staring to confuse an old man like me I never know which one to post or look at. Now as for the meeting day is there any night during the week that all of you swing shift workers have off the same night every week. If so, we can change to that night. Being retired it does not make any difference to me as to when or where we meet. I go 150 miles back and forth to New Orleans just for the ride and fellowship and to see all the other X’s. I think the “Southern Cruisers try to have a ride every weekend that we could team up with on Saturdays there a good bunch that don’t care what you ride as long as you ride
